The Big Gundown - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Ennio Morricone 2XLP. Artwork by Geof Darrow / Color Art by Dave Stewart. Featuring an all new interview with the composer. Cut at 45RPM for best sound quality. Pressed on 180 Gram Black Vinyl & 180 Gram Brown Vinyl with Gold Splatter (limited to 700 copies). On sale Wednesday (8/5). $35
We’re very proud to bring you Oscar winner Ennio Morricone’s THE BIG GUNDOWN on vinyl. The film, released in 1966, is one of the best Spaghetti Western’s of that era, starring a scenery-chewing Lee Van Cleef & directed with panache by Sergio Sollima.

Last Month Quentin Tarantino announced that Ennio Morricone was going to be scoring the THE HATEFUL EIGHT, and you need look no further than this record to discover why. Morricone, along with his trusty conductor Bruno Nicolai and an eight piece choir led by Alessandroni, deliver a truly masterful score. It’s rousing, exciting, speaker-shattering stuff, shown off on tracks such as "Run Man Run" & "Titoli Di Testa." The orchestra almost jumps off the recording, but then features beautiful choral pieces such as "Coro Dei Mormoni," and is filled out by slower more mournful cuts like "Titoli De Coda."

Undoubtedly one of the finest Spaghetti scores recorded, we are thrilled to present you with this brand new remaster with 25 tracks split across 2 heavyweight 45rpm records. The icing on the cake for this release has to be the insert that features an interview with Morricone, conducted especially for us. Also, the fact that the whole package comes wrapped in a beautiful gatefold sleeve by the legendary Geof Darrow.

I own three versions of THE BIG GUNDOWN on vinyl and hand on heart (as a fan first), I can safely say none sound as good as this edition. You can listen to a few tracks off the record here.

Robocop - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 2XLP
(Milan Records). Pressed on 180 Gram Silver Vinyl. Original artwork by Jay Shaw. Includes digital download card. On sale Wednesday (8/5). $37

After “Oldboy” and “It Follows,” Milan Records and Nicolas Winding Refn have partnered with MGM to bring the cult soundtrack to Paul Verhoeven’s ROBOCOP. The amazing score, with its unforgettable theme, is composed by Basil Poledouris (Conan The Barbarian). This release is limited to 3,000 units pressed on 2x 180 gm silver/metal colored LP. The original artwork designed by Jay Shaw is presented on a tip on shiny silver gatefold. Each LP is housed in an OCP labeled black sleeve.

Our initial plans to release the ALIENS 2XLP in July have been thwarted by slight production delays, but we're hoping to put this up for sale very soon. We will keep you updated as soon as we lock a release date!
TWIN PEAKS & TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME - The Owls are exactly what they seem. We're happy to say Twin Peaks & Fire Walk With Me lacquers were cut last week and are currently winging their way to the plant to be turned into test pressings. The audio was transferred using the original tapes from the Warner archive and mastered for vinyl. We know it's been a long time coming but rest assured, they are on the way.
THE LAST OF US PRE-ORDER closes this Friday, AUGUST 7th. Don't miss out!
MIDNIGHT SWIM 7-Inch For those who held back last week, don't forget we still have some copies of this 7-Inch.
MAD MAX FURY ROAD is scheduled to land with us on Friday 8/7. We anticipate we will be able to get a few orders out that same day, but most customers will receive shipping notification beginning on 8/10. We apologize for the delay.

KUEDO - Assertion Of A Surrounding Presence (Knives Recordings).
Boomkat Records called this 'Sci-fi Electronica' and well, who I am I to argue? It's an engrossing and engaging listen - the kind of thing you really want the makers of say...Blade Runner 2 to hear and go "Oh yeah, that's what we're after." It's full of atmosphere and layers & layers of synths. This is exactly the kind of electronic music I love to listen to late at night, when no one else is around. You can find out more & purchase the album here.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - Music From The Motion Picture Score by Danny Elfman
One of my all time favorite Danny Elfman soundtracks is for Brian DePalma's MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (not to be confused by the strange 1996 Mixtape "Music Inspired by the film MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE," which featured songs by Pulp, Massive Attack and members of U2). Elfman made a bit of a gothic name for himself in the 80s & 90s collaborating so closely with Sam Raimi, Peter Jackson and Tim Burton, that it is hard to remember he had such a diverse output, even at that time. In preparing for the newest film in the nearly 20 year old Mission: Impossible franchise "ROGUE NATION," I revisited all 4 of the past films, and as much as I love Giacchino's work on M:I3 and Ghost Protocol (see last week's pick) nothing in the series compares to Elfman's take on the world of Ethan Hunt. I highly recommend revisiting the film (or watching it for the first time), if even just for the score - in particular the heist at Langley, or the Train set-piece near the end of the film.

We released our very first  Monthly Mix a couple weeks back, featuring 15 tracks from Mondo / Death Waltz / Death Waltz Originals, and some of our favorite record labels from around the globe. If you haven't listened already, you can check it out here!
