General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) information for Newsroom Direct subscribers
The European Union’s new General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) protects particular information about individuals that is collected and managed in the EU or is particular information from individuals in the EU. To the extent that the GDPR is applicable to FIT’s activities, the college has recently updated its Privacy website with a page devoted to the GDPR to provide notice anyone who interacts with FIT’s website and related online platforms. The notices explain the type of data FIT processes, how and why that data is used and shared, and the rights of individuals if the GDPR applies to them. Generally, your subscription to this newsletter means that we maintain your name and email address, but because you may interact with FIT in additional ways, including by using our website, we encourage you to review the notice(s) carefully to determine whether they may apply to you.
In addition to information on the GDPR, FIT’s Privacy website also contains useful information about other policies related to information privacy, along with requirements and policies for interacting with FIT’s website and its social media channels.
We hope that you find FIT’s newsletters and other communications to be an important connection to the college community. If, in fact, the GDPR applies to you, you will need to update your subscription settings using the link found in the footer of this newsletter.
