Do-it-Yourself Lowell: Community-Led Projects

Alexis Ploss, DIY Lowell Program DirectorHi, DIY Lowell fans!

You may have heard the great news, but in case you haven't: we have a new Program Director! We're so excited to announce Alexis Ploss, who has been working for a couple weeks on all sorts of great things: the #GiveUsFiveDIY campaign, a second year of Young Ideas Project, and a surprise still in the works!

Alexis has an academic career focusing on education and extensive professional experience in activism, organizing, and human services. Her new role will be in a part-time capacity, which allows Alexis to continue her important work at Community Teamwork’s Division of Child and Family Services.

You'll see messages from both Alexis and from us in this space moving forward. From Alexis:

I am beyond thrilled to have been provided the opportunity to work with DIY Lowell and empower fellow members of our community to enact lasting change. I came to Lowell six years ago and fell in love with this city, from the richness in culture to the ever-expanding diversity. It will be a top priority for me to work towards increasing the capacity of DIY Lowell with special focus on ensuring that currently underrepresented segments of our community are uplifted and heard. The strength of our humanity will always be our ability to actively listen, openly learn, and work together.

Aurora and I are both so excited to welcome Alexis on board! You can reach her at alexis@diylowell.org.

Give us Five for DIY Lowell

Have you taken part in #GiveUsFiveDIY yet? It's simple! First, donate $5 (or any amount you’d like) by clicking on the button below. Then, give us a virtual high-five on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram by telling us why you donated with a short selfie video or a couple lines of text and the above graphic. Why is building community important during this time?

Finally, pass the high-five to a few friends by tagging them. Don’t forget to use #GiveUsFiveDIY and tag @diylowell and include the link to http://www.diylowell.org

We're nearly halfway to our $2,000 goal, and the best way you can help us get there is by telling folks why you think our work is important and passing the high-five on! Thank you so much!
