7 New Partners

The Transitmix family is growing a lot faster than we expected. In just the last month, we’ve signed up Jarrett Walker + Associates, AC Transit, Pierce Transit, Traffic Engineers Inc, MRCagney, AECOM, and Triangle Transit (soon to be renamed as GoTriangle, in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region of North Carolina). We could not be more excited to be working with all these fine folks! Thanks to all of them for embracing new transit technology.

New: Satellite View

In addition to our sketch and census layers, Transitmix now offers a satellite layer. It’s like being in space, but from the comfort of your own home.

New: High Frequency Network

When it comes to high quality transit, we’re big believers in the power of a high frequency grid. Transitmix now lets you quickly toggle between the high and low frequency lines in your map, and see how much money is being spent on each. New: Big GTFS Improvements

On the technical side, we’ve made big improvements when it comes to GTFS. First — export! In just a single click, you can download your Transitmix map as GTFS. This is great for exporting into modeling engines for more complex analysis. 

We’ve also greatly improved our GTFS import, increasing the ability to generate accurate timetables and speeds for pre-existing routes. For many agencies, our service estimates are within 1% of the actual schedule. We’re continuing to push this forward, so that planning estimates match scheduling realities.

On top of all of this, we’ve been accepted into Y Combinator. If you’re not familiar, they’re an early stage incubator that kicked off companies like Dropbox and Airbnb. Their backing puts us in a much stronger position to grow the company and continue improving Transitmix at a rapid pace.
