At Nomadic IBP, we often advise clients to start from the positive characteristics of online learning and remote working, rather than seeing it as the second best alternative to being F2F. Since the start of the COVID crisis, most companies have been forced to deal with remote working, and to make the most of it. Obviously, some are better at this than others. Matt Mullenweg, founder of the company Automattic, has defined 5 levels of proficiency in remote working.
When it comes to swimming in the deep end of the remote working pool, few companies are doing it at a wider scale than Automattic — the company behind Wordpress, which powers 35% of all websites on the internet. This company has 1,170 employees scattered across more 75 countries, speaking 93 languages. They
do not have an office, with its employees collaborating almost exclusively online.

The Nomadic Online Trainer Academy:
New Programmes for
Experienced Virtual Facilitators
Since 2008, hundreds of facilitators and trainers have joined our TTOT programme to develop their virtual facilitation skills and make the transition from F2F to live online. Over the course of these years, a community of professionals has formed and to serve their professional development, Nomadic IBP is expanding its programme portfolio with several offerings. We’re combining free sessions with paid programmes and services. The graphic below gives an overview.

Summer Online Trainer Lab
This summer, we offer our alumni an open lab space to further practice their facilitation skills. Anyone who has completed the ‘Train the Online Trainer’, ‘Mastering interactive webinars’ or ‘Leading virtual meetings’ programmes with Nomadic IBP is welcome and it’s free of charge.
We open the door to our WebEx Training Center or Zoom rooms and provide a safe space among peers to practice your facilitation skills or try out a new exercise or virtual classroom activity on a test audience.
For example: you have created a new team exercise but want to see the impact on a group, before you use it with your client. The Lab sessions are hosted by a Nomadic IBP producer and facilitated by….you!
A degree of improvisation and flexibility is expected from all participants. Sign up for one or more lab sessions and tell us whether you’d like to facilitate and what tools you plan to use.
The next summer lab sessions is on Wednesday 29 July 16.00 – 17.30 CET.

How to avoid back to back meetings
Since the revolutionary shift to home office working, people tend to use their time very efficiently.
Over and over again we hear that many are caught in a gruesome work schedule of back to back meetings during the workday. Even though it’s common sense to take breaks, change position from sitting on a desk chair and taking care of physical needs including drinking and eating.
Here’s a simple tip that I found on the web. Instead of planning half or whole hour meetings, consider the 25 or 45 minute meeting. This allows you to walk around and transition to the next meeting (Julie Cline Fernández, www.slalom.com) .

Due to high demand we have added more accelerated ‘Train the Online Trainer’ programmes.
The next one is starting on July 27 and we offer this ICF certified programme, for those who want to use the summer period to upscale their virtual facilitation skills.
