Important Items To Know!

Mental Health Sessions Launch Aug. 29

Mental health issues ranging from anxiety, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders and more will be the focal point of special information sessions starting next month in the City of De Pere. The sessions will be held once a month at the De Pere Community Center, starting on Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m.

BIG art projects taking shape in
De Pere 

Work on some of the incredible murals has begun throughout our City!  If you'd like to see some of these projects in person, here's a list of mural locations that are currently (or soon to be) in progress:

  • Paintin' Pottery, 520 George St

A lasting way to remember or honor your loved ones

As a reminder, for those unaware, the City of De Pere offers a Memorial Tree and Bench program. A tree or bench makes a lovely gift or memorial and also contributes to the beauty and variety of the park landscape. If you have any questions, please contact Don Melichar at 920-339-8362.

Blood pressure checks at the Community Center

A reminder that nurses from the De Pere Health Department provide blood pressure checks in the lower lounge of the De Pere Community Center twice a month (1st and 3rd Wednesday's) from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m at the De Pere Community Center.

Summer Carnival returns Aug. 8

The Summer Carnival & Games will be Aug. 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Optimist Park. Come join the park staff and the summer playground kids as we say goodbye to summer. Bring all of your friends for this evening of games, activities and summer treats. Game tickets are 20 cents each. 

Major construction projects will wrap up soon

Weather-pending, a new roundabout at the intersection of Lawrence Drive and Main Avenue will open for public use in August. Work also continues on Charles Street - running from Wisconsin Street to Webster Avenue - through Aug. 31. Upcoming election information

There is a Fall Partisan Primary on Aug. 14, and a Fall General Election on Nov. 6. Visit this link to find out more about voter registration, polling locations, and more. Also, note that the City of De Pere is looking for citizens to work at the polls during elections. Election officials (poll workers) register new voters, record voter numbers in the poll books, answer questions, hand out and explain ballots, and work with ballot tabulation equipment. Training sessions are held before each election. Currently, poll workers are paid $10.00/hour, including the training sessions. Pease call the City Clerk-Treasurer’s Department at 920-339-4050 for more info. 

Have you used our Compost Facility? 

Miss our recent brush collection week (our next scheduled week is Oct. 1-5, by the way)? Don't worry. You can also dump grass clippings, brush & more year-round at the Compost Center, located on Rockland Road. The Compost facility is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk and is a free service provided to City of De Pere and Village of Ledgeview residents only. Contractors and non-residents are no longer able to use the Compost Facility.

National Night Out celebrates 35th year on Aug. 7

Start planning your block parties for National Night Out, which is Aug. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. Police and Fire departments members will be out stopping out. If you are having a block party, please contact Officer Bradley via email at  jbradley@mail.de-pere.org for street/Park permits and to get your party on the map of places to visit!

Hours of rubbish site are 7 a.m.
to 7 p.m. only 

Our Municipal Service Center (located at 925 S. Sixth Street) is a convenient option for residents to dispose of unwanted bulky items and rubbish at no cost. This drop-off site is available seven days a week, ONLY during the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Complaints from neighboring properties about the use of our rubbish site after hours has led to the site now being barricaded outside the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone using the site after hours will be fined. Thank you so much for your cooperation and courtesy in using this service moving forward.

Battle the Build-up with Garbage Overflow Tags

Garbage piling up? Here's how to catch-up. Garbage Overflow tags are also available for purchase. Overflow is defined as “extra bagged garbage’ which will not fit in the container. Cost is $2 per tag. Each tag will accommodate two bags of garbage and are available for purchase at the Municipal Service Center located at 925 S. Sixth Street. Bags should be placed alongside your container.
