New logo, brand launch for the City of De Pere

A new logo for the City of De Pere was officially unveiled and launched last month, and you'll find it on new city flags, downtown banners, social media profiles and much more. The logo - and the extensive branding that surrounds it - formulated through a recently-completed Strategic Visioning and Branding Initiative. This study did far more than just create a logo, however.

The initiative surveyed residents and neighbors on their views of the current state of De Pere. From there, it served as a collaborative process to discover how our residents best want the City to move forward. Together, we created a shared vision of the future, built by the community.

This is the new Vision Statement for our City:
De Pere's unwavering focus on quality of life sets a national standard for a vibrant community.

Our new Mission Statement then, is this:
De Pere will foster an engaged community spirit and encourage forward thinking to seize on opportunities for education, business, recreation and culture - with steadfast support for the city's history and character.

How do we get there? Here's our goals, in a nutshell: We want to grow our downtown and provide a variety of new opportunities, without losing the authentic character we are known for. Beyond that, we want to encourage the growth of business; embrace and enhance open space in De Pere; and coordinate unique activities that enliven our sense of community.

It’s important to note this blueprint was drawn by you and by the many who gave their time and feedback to this project. Thank you. The critical next step now is to tell our story, and that story begins with four key points:

Genuine. Rooted in strong values. Forward Thinking. Down to earth.

These are the pillars of our brand messaging, and reflect who we are in De Pere. When you see this messaging moving forward, please remember what our brand stands for: there is no better place to grow up, work, go to school and raise a family than in the City of De Pere.

Important Items To Know!

REMINDER: 48 hours to clear sidewalks in winter

De Pere Public Works would like to give a friendly reminder that snow and ice must be removed from all sidewalks within 48 hours after a winter storm, in accordance with Section 22.18 of the Municipal Code.
If sidewalks, which include handicap ramps and corner walkways, are not kept clean, the City has the option of removing the snow and ice and billing the abutting property owner. As far as roadways, for those interested, here's some insight into our snowplowing and removal process.

Nominate firefighters, police officers for recognition

If you’ve noticed one or a team of our firefighters or police officers doing an exemplary job in the City of De Pere, please acknowledge and nominate them for their outstanding work.
Some considerations include one or more of these actions:
• A single act of exceptional courage, responsible for saving a life;
• Meritorious service for an assignment of great responsibility;
• Outstanding response to an unusual situation beyond normal duties;
• Unique job responsibility;
• Outstanding interaction with the citizens and community of De Pere;
• Long-term commitment to the citizens of De Pere; and/or

Changes coming to rubbish drop-off site

As a reminder, the City of De Pere's Municipal Service Center rubbish drop off site - located at 925 S. Sixth Street - is now closed for the winter season.

The site will officially close on Dec. 1. From there, the rubbish drop-off site will re-open April 3.

Starting next April, the site will be open twice per week:
* Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
* Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Closed on holidays.
The new site will have an attendant working.

If you have questions, please call 339-4060.

Health, fire staff helping people stay independent

In an effort to keep people independent and in their homes for as long as possible, De Pere Fire Rescue along with the De Pere Health Department partnered up with the ADRC and RTAC to develop a video that will train Emergency Responders throughout the state on how to refer these individuals to programs designed to help.

In the City of De Pere we have a program called the "Stay At Home Assistance" program designed to reduce falls and the potential for injuries. In other areas around the state and country these services are provided by organizations like the ADRC.

Ice, ice baby! Crews are getting Legion, VFW ready.

De Pere Parks, Recreation & Forestry crews have started the initial set-up for the City of De Pere's outdoor ice rinks. We will once again offer rinks at Legion and VFW parks. Our plan (depending on Mother Nature's cooperation, of course) is to have the rinks ready to enjoy in the second half of December. Please check the City's social media pages for updates.

Make your winter count: Arts. Sports. Fitness. Events. Oh, my!

The De Pere Park, Recreation & Forestry Department’s Winter/Spring brochure is now online. Check it out! There are so many amazing ways to get involved in our community. Hard copies may be picked up at the De Pere Community Center, Municipal Service Center, City Hall and at the Kress Family Library as well.  Resident registration begins Wednesday, November 7; Non-Resident and Walk-in registration begins Wednesday, November 14.
