creative:impact

Tune in Tuesday mornings at 7:49 & 9:49 a.m.
on WEMU 89.1FM
Co-hosted by The Arts Alliance’s Deb Polich and WEMU’s Morning Edition host David Fair, creative:impact features creative people and industry experts who live, have creative practices and jobs, own creative businesses in Washtenaw County and lead the sector locally, nationally and internationally. They are the driving forces making Washtenaw County one of Michigan's strongest and most vibrant arts and creative industry hubs.

Feb. 26 - Connecting Art and Public Change

Perhaps one of the most difficult issues to discuss is domestic violence.  Michigan playwright Carey Crim authored the play "Never Not Once" and takes a deep dive into the emotional and personal issues dealt with the aftermath of such horrific crimes.  Artistic explorations, like this, can have a positive impact on how the public deals with such difficult issues.  That's the focus on this week's "creative:impact." Listen here!

March 5 - Starting, running and yes, even ending a creative business
Creative entrepreneurs, triple bottom lines and the life cycle of businesses are some of the topics explored with guest Paul Hickman on this edition of “creative:impact.” Paul is an artist and a creative entrepreneur who founded Urban Ashes, a creative business in Saline that after more than 10 years in business, recently closed. Hickman joins WEMU's David Fair and The Arts Alliance CEO Deb Polich to talk about what Urban Ashes accomplished and the challenge of knowing when to close a business.
