Take Action! National Arts and Humanity Endowments among targets for immediate cuts and future elimination

For the current fiscal year, the Trump Administration would like Congress to immediately cut $15 million from the National Endowment of Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities, apiece. For next year, FY2018, the Administration would like to fully terminate the two cultural agencies, in addition to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The Trump Administration has now put out two proposals to cut the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2016, alone, the NEA distributed $2.05 million to Michigan, including $770,600 to the state's arts agency, the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, and an additional $1,282,500 in grant dollars to individuals and organizations across the state. Currently, 40 percent of NEA-supported activities take place in high-poverty neighborhoods, with 36 percent of grants going to under-served populations, including programs for veterans and people with disabilities.

What can you do?
Take 2 minutes now to contact your members of Congress and join the #SaveTheNEA campaign. Also, take part in Americans for the Arts social media campaign, #ArtsAdvocacy and follow our Arts Advocacy Day Facebook event to stay updated!
The Arts Alliance will continue to forward alerts from Creative Many Michigan and take action as long as the NEA, NEH, the Institute for Museum and Library Services and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting are in jeopardy. Join us in saving the arts!
