GatewayJFK is where logistics and cargo, hotel, food service, retail, other industries, and a lively community, call home. We are a Business Improvement District in Southeast Queens that is home to over 600 businesses and 150 single family households. Our mission is to create a space in New York where the air cargo businesses can expand, thrive and be a good neighbor.

GatewayJFK Launches Scholarship Program

GatewayJFK is pleased to announce two new scholarship programs. One scholarship program focused on individuals who wish to work in the field of aviation and/or air cargo, and another focused on students from the local region of southeast Queens.

Each scholarship is worth up to $2,500, and will be awarded to at least two students who will be attending a college or trade school in 2021. GatewayJFK is now currently accepting applications and submissions will be accepted until Dec.31st.

This new effort is part of GatewayJFK's mission to expand support to both the business community and local community by investing in the future of the aviation industry and the human capital of our region. This initiative addresses an issue that faces the aviation and air cargo industry today; the recruitment, retention, and training of its workforce. Through this scholarship GatewayJFK will bring needed visibility to the local aviation/air cargo industrym and inform local students about the wide variety of career opportunities available in the industry.

Students applying for the scholarships must plan on attending a college, university, or vocational/trade school during the calendar year of 2021. Award recipients are expected to be announced on March 1st, 2021. The deadline for all application submissions is December 31, 2020. Applications must be submitted electronically using the form on our website located at at gatewayjfk.org/scholarship.

Upgrading or Expanding Your Fleet?

Earn up to $185,000 per truck through NYC Clean Trucks Program

In an effort to give local businesses an incentive to modernize their trucking fleets and reduce diesel truck emissions. The New York City Department of Transportation recently launched the New York City Clean Trucks Program.

Funding is available from $12,000 up to $185,000 per truck replacement, depending on fuel type and truck class size.

The NYC Clean Trucks Program is focused on businesses that move goods and commercial truck operators located in designated New York City Industrial Business Zones like GatewayJFK.

The program works with truck dealerships who can help walk businesses through the process of the incentive program. Authorized dealerships include Gabrielli Truck Sales which has two locations in and near the GatewayJFK district.

$9.8 Million will be provided in the form of rebate incentive funding to reduce diesel exhaust emissions by replacing older, heavy polluting diesel trucks with new all-electric, or EPA emission compliant alternative fueled (compressed natural gas, diesel-electric hybrid, plug-in diesel-electric hybrid) and diesel trucks.

The $9.8 Million for the program has been dog eared from a settlement to New York State related to the Volkswagon diesel-emissions scandal of 2015.Funds for the program are limited, so businesses considering a fleet upgrade are encouraged to apply soon.

If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about the program, please reach out to Executive Director Scott Grimm-Lyon at scott@gatewayjfk.org or visit the program website at www.nycctp.com.

City Launches "All In on NYC" as Revival Marketing Effort
How Your Businesses Can Participate

Life has changed in dramatic and unexpected ways this year. Although these changes have had a particularly strong impact on New York City, we as New Yorkers have once again shown the world our trademark resilience.

The All In NYC campaign was developed in collaboration between NYC & Company and the NYC Economic Development Corporation to rally New Yorkers around the idea that, despite the hard times we are facing, we are collectively committed to our great city and making sure it comes back better, stronger, and fairer than ever.

GatewayJFK will be supporting this message by going to storefronts in our area and distributing "All In NYC" decals to our businesses. By placing this decal on their front doors or windows, local businesses are signaling to their neighborhood that they are part of that effort to bring NYC back.

GatewayJFK will be sharing photos of these efforts on social media using #AllinNYC and tagging @nycedc and @nycgo.
