Our mission is to create a space in New York where the air cargo businesses can expand, thrive and be a good neighbor.

Shuttle Service to Launch April 5th 2021

On April 5th, the 8,000+ workers in the GatewayJFK area will have a new option to get to and from work. GatewayJFK in partnership with the application Dollaride is set to launch a subsidized shuttle service to help workers commute from the Jamaica transit hub to our bustling cargo, hotel, and commercial job center.

The shuttle will run every work day from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and is expected to shave 20 minutes off of an average worker’s commute. Riders will be able to request a pickup or a stop anywhere along the shuttle route by using an app on their mobile phone. The route will run chiefly along Rockaway Blvd. to Guy R. Brewer Blvd. inside the GatewayJFK district.

To help build the service, GatewayJFK turned to the rideshare startup Dollaride – which facilitates an app-based payment portal for New York’s dollar van industry. Employees will be able to track their shuttle, reserve a seat, and digitally pay for their ride with the Dollaride app.

To promote this new route, GatewayJFK and Dollaride are giving away 60 free rides to the first 300 people who sign up. To redeem rides, users must download the dollaride app for their mobile phone on the Apple App Store or using Google Play.

NYC Clean Trucks Program Info Session:
Tues, March 16th at 12:30 pm

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 12:30 pm, GatewayJFK will be hosting a webinar to answer questions about the New York City Clean Trucks Program NYCCTP.

Under the program Independent Owner/Operators, Fleet Operators, Local Businesses and Truck Leasing Companies who operate in GatewayJFK are eligible to receive between $12,000 and $185,000 from the New York City Clean Truck Program (NYCCTP), for upgrading the fuel efficiency of their trucks. The amount of funding received depends on fuel type and truck class size.

The program works with truck dealerships who can help walk businesses through the process of the incentive program. Authorized dealerships include Gabrielli Truck Sales which has two locations in and near the GatewayJFK district.

The webinar will be a Zoom info session/Facebook Live Event about the program featuring representatives from the City of NY Dept. of Transportation and Gabrielli Trucks, who will share information about how they helped walk businesses through the process when the City ran the same program at Hunts Point last year.

If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about the program, please reach out to Executive Director Scott Grimm-Lyon at scott@gatewayjfk.org or visit the program website at www.nycctp.com.

About the PPP
$284 billion was just allocated for another round of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a forgivable business loan offered through the federal government’s Small Business Administration that helps businesses keep their workforce employed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. This new package provides additional funding for businesses that did not receive PPP money in the first round, especially minority- and women-owned businesses.

About the EIDL
The EIDL program is designed to provide economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue due to coronavirus (COVID-19). The Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Advance is a grant of up to $10,000 for businesses in low-income communities who apply for the EIDL.
