eCitations and eComplaints

We've been hearing this for a while now, but here is your final reminder. All adult citations and criminal complaints must be submitted electronically by July 1, 2016.

CAD Interface and Addresses

You may have noticed some odd addresses being imported from CAD after the 2.9 upgrade. Specifically, the issue affected addresses with apartment numbers. Everything after the street name (street type, apartment number and post directional) was being added to the street field. For example, an address of 113 Lake Street East, Apartment 3, Duluth MN came across with Lake St E #3 in the street field.

A fix was put in place on Monday, June 6th to prevent more of these incorrect addresses from being created. To put things in perspective, 10,429 new addresses were created in SHIELD since April 5th, and 1,957 of those addresses are incorrect. 49,426 ICRs have been created since the CAD 2.9 upgrade and only 4% of those ICRs contain an incorrect address. A clean-up of the 1,957 addresses is in the works.

Web Shield Update

The Project Team and CJS attended status meetings on May 18th and June 1st. The prototype was delivered on May 20th, and the team has been testing and offering feedback to CJS.

A new feature in Web Shield is the ability to change from day to night mode to reduce eye strain when viewing Shield windows at night. Those with administrative rights in Web Shield can create additional color schemes as well. Think of the possibilities! We could have a high-contrast mode or a mode for colorblind staff.

A sneak peek of Web Shield has been scheduled for June 15th, at the beginning of the NEMESIS meeting. If you cannot join the meeting in person, you can connect to a webinar and the conference call. To connect to the webinar, click on this link.  To join the conference call, dial 218-730-5949. Instructions for joining the webinar and calling the conference line will be provided in the agenda email as well.

Courts and Criminal Justice Information

As of June 30, 2016, the Minnesota Judicial Branch will not hold criminal justice information retrieved through the BCA from state or federal repositories. The BCA is urging agencies to not query state or federal repositories on behalf of the Judicial Branch. A response from the St. Louis County Legal Counsel is expected soon and will be included in our July newsletter.

Tips & Tricks

Here's a nifty keyboard shortcut to get to the top or bottom of a List of Values (LOV) field in SHIELD RMS, JMS or DAMION. Simply press the Control button and the Home button on your keyboard to go back to the top of a list. Press the Control button and the End button to go to the last entry on the list.
