This week has shown a significant increase in local COVID cases in Wabash county, having risen to as many as 54 positives in the last 4 days. In addition, yesterday the state of Illinois entered into the most restrictive tier of mitigations since this past Spring to help respond to rising cases, once again restricting public gatherings to 10 persons or less. Our local health department is strongly urging against in person worship due to the rapid local increase as well.
Your Elders and I have been in conversation since last week, praying about and considering the implications of all these things. After much discussion, talk with local ministers, the health department and most importantly a desire to walk in the Spirit’s leading, we are moving our Sunday worship to online only for these next two Sundays, November 22 and 29. While it is our hope that we will see a local decrease in numbers that allow us to return in December, we are taking this season moment by moment. We will provide a live service at 10 am visible on Facebook Live and shortly after uploaded to our Youtube channel. We will work to deliver all Advent devotionals to those of you who requested them before the beginning of Advent on November 29.
We will still take a Thanksgiving offering to support Operation Share during this Sunday’s worship. You are welcome to give online, or mail or bring in a gift to the church office Monday through Wednesday next week.
Trust me when I say I miss all of you so very much. While it is not our preference to close our building, we surrender our preferences for the sake of loving our neighbors in the way we believe Jesus calls us to. I encourage you to make online worship a priority, and to continue following all suggested protocols in public for mask wearing and distancing. I am praying God continues to speak deeply to us this season and we listen with open hearts and minds to His Word.
