"Infiniti: To Be Like Jesus"

A look at Romans 8.
Centering on the endless love God has for us as His children.

Infiniti Week 1:  "New Life"

Big Idea: We all struggle with feelings of guilt, shame, and regret; Jesus gives us freedom and new life through His work for us on the Cross.

Scripture used: Romans 7:15-24 (MSG), Romans 7:25 (MSG), Romans 8:1-4 (MSG), Romans 6:23 (NLT), Romans 8:5-8 (MSG), Romans 8:9-11 (MSG).

  1. There is not one of us in here today that doesn’t Struggle with feelings of guilt, shame, and regret; we all have this black cloud that hovers around in our lives, it just seems to keep following us, reminding us of how guilty and shameful we are.
  2. The truth is, no matter how much we try, no matter how much we work at it, we can never do enough to feel free from guilt, shame, and regret on our own

  3. Sin and the shame, guilt, and regret that go along with it can leave us in a very dark place leaving us feeling wretched where all that we do and all that we are is so clouded at times that we can hardly see any light, any hope, any way out

  4. It’s like we are in a high-speed washing machine that is stuck on the wash and spin cycle, tossing us back and forth and then spinning us out of control over and over again.

  5. God wants and desires that you move past what you have done in your life. If you are unable to move past what you have done in life, you will never fully understand God's grace, kindness and endless love that he has for you.

  6. His desire for you is that you are free from the weight of sin and he wants to see you moving forward in life fulfilling the plan he has for you.

  7. Paul is just talking about our Human struggle here, think about that for a moment, Paul some 1960 years ago is writing about the very same struggles we face today. The struggle of sin and its power over our lives, not only in the present but the things it brings up from the past as well.

  8. Paul in four verses solves this internal struggle, and he solves it at the beginning of vs. two the end of vs. four the answer “Those who enter into Christ, and simply embrace what the Spirit is doing in us.” Rom 8:1-4 (MSG)

  9. Grace is at the very core of the Gospel Still; it is often misunderstood or even ignored. Grace like Jesus taking our spot on the cross is such another huge example of the endless love that God has for us as his Children.

  10. Accepting God’s grace is how you experience life on God’s terms, a life free from Guilt, Shame, and Regret. He took our place so that we did not have to try to do the impossible on our own.

New Series – Becoming Nothing In Philippians 2:5-7 We have Jesus whom made himself nothing in the form of a servant. Although he was by nature equal to God the father, he humbled himself as the example for our earthly relationships.
