Take a Tropical Vacation in Your Glass!

   I don't know about you, but I could sure use a warm weather getaway this winter. But if you can't have that, how about some warm weather drinks and the illusion that it's summer? In my February 23 cocktail class at The Last Word you'll be able to get your passport stamped at several tropical ports as you explore drinks from warm weather destinations like Jamaica, Hawaii, Argentina and Peru. This class features a fun walk-around format with music, more time for socializing, AND a spread of tasty and vacation-appropriate snacks. Prizes awarded for tropical attire!
   I'll be reprising this class on March 3 at Evans Street Station in Tecumseh, although there it will be in our typical sit-down format.

Seeking Quotable Quotes!

   I'll be launching a brand new Tammy's Tastings website some time in the next few weeks. If you've attended a cocktail class, or hired me for a private event, I'd love to hear from you! Featured Cocktail - Neutral Ground

   I had so much fun exploring sherry and port cocktails as I prepared for my Sherry & Port class earlier in the month, it was hard to choose just a few for the class! These fortified wines from the Iberian Peninsula make great cocktail additions. Sherry in particular adds really interesting nutty and savory characteristics, and it's used to great effect in this Manhattan variant which was one of the favorites of the evening. In place of the typical sweet vermouth it substitutes a mix of nutty but dry amontillado sherry and sweet and herbal Benedictine.

Neutral Ground
2 oz rye
1/2 oz Amontillado Sherry
1/2 oz Benedictine
3 dashes Regan's Orange Bitters
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir well and strain into a cocktail glass.
