In this issue: New Food & Cocktails Class on January 26, Upcoming Cocktail Classes, Featured Cocktail: Hot Toddy

A Very Tasty January Awaits You!

January features an array of food and drink events to tantalize your taste buds.

January 11 - Winter Warmers Cocktail Class: An ice cold cocktail is just the ticket on a summer day, but the dead of winter calls for something warmer! In this class you’ll learn all about different styles of hot cocktails, from classic toddies to spiked hot chocolate and apple cider. And yes, there WILL be fire!

January 26 - Art of the Garnish Food and Cocktails Class: In this new format cocktail class with food, Tammy's Tastings is partnering with Felix Bistro & Bar. For our first class, we'll be exploring the art of the garnish. You'll make and enjoy 3 full cocktails to try, each with its own paired small plate from Felix's chef. Along the way you'll learn about a variety of garnish techniques and sample your cocktail before and after garnishing to discover the difference it makes. Check out my website for the full menu. I'm excited to partner with Felix Bistro & Bar on this class, since they were just named in this article about Ann Arbor restaurants to try in 2016.

January 30 - TT Supper Club:
I’m now accepting reservations for my next pop-up dinner. You’ll enjoy six courses of fabulous and seasonal food for just $60, with creative flavor combinations and artful presentation. The dinner will be wine-friendly and is BYOB, so this is a great opportunity to open that special bottle! Learn more about TT Supper Club at my website, and reserve your space at the link above. Location and menu information will be sent a few days prior to the dinner.

Upcoming Cocktail Classes

February 8 - Drink Like a Monk - Monks have been distilling and brewing for hundreds of years. This class will focus on monk-made herbal liqueurs (Chartreuse & Benedictine) that take cocktails from simple to sublime, and also makes a stop in the world of beer cocktails.
February 22 - Manhattan Project
March 14 - Drink Me, I'm Irish!

(Note: the Please Don't Tell class previously announced for March 28 will be rescheduled, stay tuned for more details)

Featured Cocktail - Basic Hot Toddy

The January 11 Winter Warmers cocktail class will include a few variations of the hot toddy concept, but here's a basic one to keep you warm until then. Besides being delicious, it can also be a nice cold remedy - the lemon juice and hot water open your sinuses, the honey coats your throat, and the alcohol might help you sleep - or make you just not care so much that you're sick!

Whiskey Hot Toddy
1 1/2 oz whiskey of your choice (bourbon, rye, scotch)
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz honey
4 oz boiling water
Combine all ingredients in a mug and stir to mix. Sip and enjoy.
