Jewelry Class

Saturday, Jun 24  9AM - Noon

Wickford Art Association
36 Beach Street
Wickford, Rhode Island 02852

And by request, I'll also be teaching my Transfer class again September 16th. Learn how to put your own art or photographs on polymer clay as a pin or pendant.

Register now at the Wickford Art Association .

We’re going to make “donut” beads and learn various ways of texturing clay while we’re at it.

I’ll show you how to add paint to highlight texture and create a more interesting surface.

We’ll make wire wrapped dangles using mother of pearl dagger beads, or tassels out of fibers or ribbon.

And I’ll show you how to make a simple but elegant bail using flat wire.

You can hang your pendant from a simple cord or leather necklace, or use sari silk for a longer, more ornate design. If time permits, you can complete both necklace styles.

This is your chance to learn some jewelry techniques and make a necklace that is completely you – from start to finish.

All materials will be provided. No experience needed.

River Fire - Wakefield, RI

If you're looking for something fun to do this summer, you don’t have to drive all the way to Providence to experience fire on a river!

The RiverFire & Art Walk is a 10 week series of events held every Thursday in downtown historic Wakefield Village along the Saugatucket River from June 22 - August 24, from dusk till 9PM.

RiverFire’s floating fire baskets will be lit on the historic Saugatucket River in the Village of Wakefield, RI. The intoxicating aroma of fires and sound of live music will fill the air as visitors stroll the riverbanks and historic Main Street of Wakefield.

The events will conclude with the Endless Summer Celebration, being held on August 17th

I should be set up around 5pm on June 22nd. Come see me there!

In Other News...

I have a piece, Rule the Roost, at the Anything Goes show at the Wickford Art Association. It will be on display until June 18th.

If you're interested in how a sculpture comes along, you can see some In Progress posts on my blog. And find out why I sculpted a rooster using turquoise clay:

And I've been doing a lot of re-organizing on the studio, and unfortunately I have to report that the Marie Kondo method does NOT really work on art supplies. ;)

It was an interesting read ( The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing ) and it worked on some things, but when I look at a set of colored pencils or a big box of crayons that I haven't used in 5 years, and ask, "Does it make me happy?"

The answer is almost always "Yes". And it goes back on the shelf.  :)
