Children and Young People

July 2016

"Summer has at last arrived" is the general topic of conversation and within many parishes the chatter is around holiday clubs - the prep, planning, drama backdrops & worship songs. Despite the huge impact holiday clubs have on a churches resources, they are renowned for engaging positively not only with churched children & young people but the surrounding communities. Recently at Diocesan Synod a Youth Council member Olivia Best shared her testimony and the impact of attending a holiday club at a young age. She'd attended as an un-churched child but was so engaged and curious about Jesus and faith she pestered her family to start attending the church. A few years later not only has Olivia began a great ministry herself aged 14 but her father has just been licensed as a curate. I suspect the church had no idea what seeds they were planting in Olivia and her family during that holiday club and that is often the reality of ministry, very seldom do we see or hear the amazing results or outcomes. God calls us to ministry, to take the opportunity in all places with all people, holiday clubs are just one example of showing, displaying and sharing the love of Christ and the difference He can make, and you never know what seeds are being planted in the families who hear and witness the message. Have a wonderful summer and our next newsletter will be with you in September.
