Wonder What It's Like To Be Dyslexic?
Come and experience what it is like to be Dyslexic!  This hands-on, interactive Dyslexia simulation allows participants to experience some of the frustrations and challenges that are common to those with language-based learning differences.

This is a great opportunity for parents, teachers, and anyone interested to learn more about Dyslexia.

Simulation will be held at the Tutor Eau Claire Dyslexia Resource Center (628 Muller Avenue, Columbia, 29203) from 6:30-8:00pm on Thursday, January 8th.

Space is limited.  Please RSVP to or call 843.368.2817 to reserve your seat today.

Tutor Eau Claire Partners   with Girl Scouts

We are excited to announce an expanded partnership with SC Girl Scouts - Mountains to Midlands' Daisy Literacy Power Project.  This program is designed to help Troop Leaders and Parents nurture foundational reading skills in Daisy Scouts.

Tutor Eau Claire will help support this literacy enrichment program by conducting reading assessments of the Kindergarten and First grade Daisy Scouts.  Parents and Troop leaders will participate in coaching sessions including our Helpful Hints for Reading workshop.  Each parent will receive a copy of the Helpful Hints manual as part of this workshop

Currently, 8 Troops serving nearly 100 girls are participating in the Daisy Power Project. .  Each girl receives a Power Pack complete with a backpack filled with books specially chosen by Dr. Michelle Martin, Augusta Baker Chair of Childhood Literacy, USC School of Library Sciences.  Each girl will also receive matching activities, bookmarks, crayons and a reading log.

More Troops are expected to join in January.  Please check with your daughter's Daisy Troop leader to see if she will be participating in this exciting program!

We are pleased to be a partner in championing literacy with the Girl Scouts.  For more information, please contact us or visit our website at

Make a Difference

We are grateful to be able to partner with the University of South Carolina to offer service learning and volunteer opportunities for USC students.

This Fall, students from the USC School of Nursing assisted with Tutor Eau Claire's Lexia online-tutorial sessions at Hyatt Park Gym's after-school program.  Students and professors from the USC Communications Sciences and Disorders (Speech & Hearing) department helped conduct reading assessments throughout the Midlands.

This Spring, the USC College of Social Work will join Tutor Eau Claire on a special project to help identify the lasting impacts of Tutor Eau Claire's programming for the students and families we serve.  We look forward to sharing these results with you soon!
