Newton  BIA Needle Program
The Newton BIA will be launching a needle program to combat the ongoing needle problem in the area with support from our CSP program and bylaw.

Surrey Board of Trade Crime Luncheon
Officer in Charge, Bill Fordy speaks at SBOT crime luncheon about the importance of education to fight gang violence in Surrey. Fordy emphasizes importance of businesses and community talking about the issues and educating one another to combat crime.

Province-wide Gun and Gang Strategy
Premier Christy Clark holds a press conference in Surrey announcing pledge of $23 million towards province-wide anti-gang strategies over the next 3 years.

High-tech greenhouse grows on City of Surrey
John Volken Academy held their BioPod launch on April 15 in partnership with the City of Surrey and multiple universities. The BioPod, located on King George and 68th Ave, is a high tech greenhouse specializing in vertical-growing and plans to have robotic fruit pickers, and self-watering systems.

Friends of the Grove Cocktail Party & Fundraiser
The “Friends of The Grove” is a group of Newton neighbours that have taken root in the beautiful cluster of cedars beside the Newton Recreation Centre known as “The Grove.” Using music, art and playfulness the “Friends of The Grove” bring fun, peace and harmony to the Newton neighbourhood. This has been a very successful community group for Newton. To facilitate the continued success of their program a fundraiser will be held to contribute to the group's financial requirements.

Government Relations


Surrey LED Street Light Upgrade
The City of Surrey is currently in the process of converting all street lights to LED. This change will save up to $1 million/yr in electricity and maintenance costs.

Pay with a poem at Espresso Café for a free coffee, tea, or pop! It’s the last week of the promotion, so stop by and enjoy some coffee at a local favorite.

Community Coffee with Newton BIA 
Community Coffee is a new BIA initiative created to engage with the community here in Newton to discuss issues, ideas, thoughts, projects, and everything in between. The next meetup will be Saturday May 14th at 1pm. Contact info@newtonbia.com if you would like to join!
