You are invited to the Wild and Scenic Film Festival, September 5th at the Tabor Opera House

A Wild Life

Join Leadville's outdoor and environmental enthusiasts to watch 11 inspired short-films at the Tabor Opera House

Some of our favorites this year are: Delta Dawn, The Great Turning, The Ridge, and Brilliant Darkness, Check out the full program or get tickets on our website.  C4 membership is free if you commit to four hours of environmental service.

Compost in the Schools

Students in grades 3-12 will be composting every day at lunch starting this fall.  C4 has teamed up with the School District to purchase two composting Earth Tubs, which will be located behind the Intermediate School.  Students will lead the effort to turn food scraps into nutrient rich soil.  This project is possible through grants from the EPA, Freeport McMoRan Community Investment Fund, Copper Environmental Fund and the Summit Foundation.

Recycle and Trash Drop Sites

The grand opening date for our new recycle and trash drop sites is September 25th.  Both drop site locations have been approved by the Board of County Commissioners.  Drop sites will include a (free) recycle drop and bear-proof dumpsters where pre-paid trash bags can be deposited.  They are monitored with cameras 24x7 and through our Adopt a Drop Site program.  Forty gallon pre-paid trash bags are available for $5 at True Value and Saturdays starting September 10th.  After a lot of public input, we have two new locations: by the Community Park (McWethy Dr.) and south of CR10 and HW24 junction.

$400 Local Energy Rebate

Funded by Lake County Government, this $400 matching rebate is available, from C4, for home energy efficiency improvements.  After upgrading her home, Cheri Hahn will save $617 annually on her energy bill.  She first received an energy audit from C4, then hired Mill Creek Carpentry to increase the insulation levels in her attic, seal major air gaps, and create a warm, dry crawlspace.  “I’m so happy with all the improvements and wouldn’t have thought of  doing these without the energy audit.  I was going to do windows, but these improvements will be better and cost less,” she said.  Email Cameron to set up an energy audit appointment.
