Time is running out when it comes to the climate crisis: to make our cities and settlements places that support planetary wellbeing, rather than harm it, we urgently need them to become more circular.
Luckily, the idea of transitioning to more circular urban economies has been gaining a lot of traction over the past few years. From the prominent Doughnut Economics concept put forth by Kate Raworth, to the EU's first circular economy action plan.
Cities are still facing challenges, though, when it comes to gaining political support, expanding circularity beyond traditional resource recovery in waste and water sectors and making circular solutions more durable, accessible and just.
This EUKN May Urban Review offers you some insights into how circular urban economies can be implemented and scaled in European cities.
One last thing... don't forget that tonight at 17.00, we are hosting a joint webinar with Eutropian on Circular Urban Economies: Partnerships for Local Ecosystems. Join us later here!
