From Montreal to La Paz via Hong Kong: women-men´s equality, an essential condition for the development of SSE

The Léman in a translocal perspectives: «Local currency from here and elsewhere» 


If additional local currencies were already circulating in the 1930s in Europe and then in the years 1980-1990 in the Americas, it is undeniable that they are experiencing a renewed interest around the world, both as regards the effervescence of popular support and potentially for technological and economic development.

The Geneva’s currency « The Léman » was born in 2015 in Lake Geneva´s region (around Geneva) and has a lot of features. This is a cross-border currency, based on a living environment rather than administrative boundaries; it aims to combine a wealthy paper currency... Read more

SOLI-OLI, solidarity exports between Greece and Germany


During this summer (from July until September) the campaign of solidarity exports travelled to Berlin, after Belgium and Luxembourg through the cooperation of social organisations and SSE initiatives in Germany and in Greece. The “heart” of the campaign is how an alternative – fair and solidarity trade , without mediators with full access to all information about quality, origin, working conditions, environmental impact of the products is possible... A cooperative Call Center from Refugees to Refugees (R2R)


The phone line of the cooperative call service ‘Refugees to Refugees (R2R) Solidarity Call Center’ began to operate on Thursday 8th September 2016 in Greece. For three months now, 4 refugees (from Syria, Egypt, Morocco and Gambia) and people from the solidarity movement have been working cooperatively together, through open and democratic processes, in order to create a cooperative initiative that will provide information about transit, stay, or settlement in Greece, from refugees to refugees... COP22 "The COP for action" Marrakech (Morocco), 6-18 November, 2016

World Social Forum 2016: towards a post-capitalist transition

The World Social Forum this year took place for the first time (as international event) in the “global north”, hosted in the city of Montreal, Quebec – Canada, from the 9th to 14th of August 2016. According to the organisers, there were a total of 35.000 participants from 125 countries, 1000 volunteers, 1300 self-managed activities, 15 great conferences, and 6 days of events.  Read more
