SURVEY ON SSE EDUCATION

In 2015-2016, RIPESS seeks to bring together people and organizations engaged in SSE education (popular and community education, formal education, training for SSE practitioners) to connect and strengthen the links between SSE educators, foster collaboration and share experiences, strategies, tools and curriculums.

The survey, available in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, is a first step in this project. Webinars and other multilingual spaces for exchange and collaboration will be facilitated so that we can learn from each other's experiences.

RECENT EVENTS

Expo dei Popoli International Forum,
June 3-5, Milan, Italy

Feeding the Planet through Agroecology: on June 3-5, a  RIPESS delegation with twelve people from Asia, Africa, Latin America, North America and Europe participated in Milan People's Expo to assert the voices of peoples in putting forth food sovereignty.

The event, organized by the People’s Expo Committee gathering 50 associations of the Italian civil society together with international networks and peasant’s movements, aimed to shed light on the strategies and solutions put in place by these movements to cope with the global problems of access to food and natural resources, with food sovereignty as the main political goal.

VI Latin American and Caribbean Meeting on Solidarity Economy and Fair Trade

Managua, Nicaragua, April 21-24, 2015



The 6th continental meeting of RIPESS-Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), convened in collaboration with the member organizations of PECOSOL- Plataforma Centroamericana de Economía Solidaria, active in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua was held in Managua, Nicaragua, on April 21-24. The event brought together 180 leaders and representatives from SSE organizations and networks from 12 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
 
The meeting was the occasion for RIPESS-LAC members of reaffirming the pivotal role of food sovereignty in structuring the solidarity economy.

Solidarity Economy European Congress,
September 5-13, Berlin

Save the date! The 2015 Solidarity Economy European Congress will take place in Berlin, Germany, September 5-13.

The program includes a 'Transformation Week' with field visits, a RIPESS Europe Assembly and an international Congress with numerous plenaries and workshops to move forward in building convergences for an alternative economy.

Bamako 2016
4th RAESS Meeting
April 2016, Bamako

RENAPESS Mali will host the 4th African Network for Social and Solidarity Economy -RAESS meeting in Bamako, April 2016. The network is currently conducting a consultation to inform the organizing process of this large gathering of the African SSE movements.

Global Social Economy Forum -GSEF2016
Montreal, Sept 7-9, 2016 

The next edition of the Global Social Economy Forum-GSEF2016, an international conference on collaboration between local governments and SSE organizations for the development of cities, will be held in Montreal in September 2016.

Pre-ASEAN Summit Roundtable on Social Solidarity Economy
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 25, 2015

The participants called on ASEAN Heads of State to recognise that grassroots, local community initiatives in ASEAN countries are generating community based enterprises that contribute to wealth creation, enhancing the quality of community life, and empowering people’s participation in local development, environmental conservation, and responsible use of local resources in a sustainable way.

World Social Forum, Tunis, March 2015

From March 24th to 28th, 2015, a RIPESS delegation was in Tunis for the World Social Forum and co-organized several spaces for sharing experiences, among these:

- Reclaiming Local Food Systems, a workshop co-hosted with Habitat International Coalition, Urgenci and La Via Campesina to highlight the convergences of the Right to the City, the Food Sovereignty and the Solidarity Economy frameworks

- Convergence Assembly on the Post-2015 Agenda: what development, for whom and why?, with more than 30 civil society organizations

Convergence Assembly on the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Assembly was the opportunity for the 30 participant civil society organizations from all continents to inform one another, share analyses and propose joint courses of action on the SDGs and Financing for Development Framework (FfD).

Social and Solidarity Finance: Tensions, Opportunities and Transformative Potential Workshop, May 11-12, UNRISD-ILO-Friedrich Ebert Stiftung

On May 11-12, 2015, UNRISD, ILO and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung held a workshop on Social and Solidarity Finance at the International labour Office in the Geneva.
 
This workshop brought together 25 experts from different fields (alternative finance, economic sociology and anthropology of money) to exchange on the transformative potential of social and solidarity finance, considering in particular its potential for sustainable development, at a time when the global issues of Financing for Development and the post-2015 development agenda are negotiated in the United Nations .

Global Social Economy Forum- GSEF2016
Montreal, September 7-9, 2016


The next edition of the Global Social Economy Forum - GSEF2016, an international conference on collaboration between local governments and SSE organizations for the development of cities, will be held in Montreal in September 2016. RIPESS is part of the Honorary Committee set up by the organizing committee to contribute to identify initiatives to be presented in the Forum and engage key actors in the process. 

The Forum's committee is calling to SSE organizations around the world who work in partnership with local governments to contribute with inputs to the GSEF 2016. To know more, contact: laura.espiau@chantier.qc.ca.
