SUPPORT: Launch of Liverchat! Portsmouth

Last week, (Thursday 16th February) we launched our latest LiverChat! group in Portsmouth, with fascinating talks from Dr Richard Aspinall, Dr Joanne Dowman and Dr Andy Fowell on all three liver related auto-immune conditions, PBC, PSC and AIH. We had a great turnout of over 60 people and the feedback was fantastic.

Our local group starts on the 21st March at the John Pounds Centre in Portsmouth at 6.30pm, so why not pop in for a chat, and meet people with similar conditions.

INFORMATION: Liver4Life info packs launched!

We're delighted to announce we now have free information packs available. Ideal for getting conversations started about liver disease while raising awareness, our suite of postcards have proved extremely popular.
If you would like to order a free information pack, please get in touch with Anna via email:

RESEARCH: Do you have hepatitis B or NASH?

Phil and Roger Daltrey
If so, we'd like to speak to you. We are working with Medicys Ltd - a company who specialise in medical market research. They are looking to conduct a series of interviews with patients who either have hepatitis B or NASH (Non-alcoholic Steato Hepatitis). You will be paid for your time and answers are confidential. Please note that you will have to undertake a screener questionnaire to ensure your eligibility for the study.

If you would be willing to be interviewed, please contact Sarah at Liver4Life in the first instance:

SUPPORT: Discussing end of life care

At the beginning of the month we attended an event at the Royal Free Hospital, held by BASL (British Association for the Study of the Liver) to discuss end of life care in liver disease. A fascinating discussion ensued amongst attendees, which largely included palliative care consultants, primary care physicians and liver consultants.

A set of recommendations are being drafted, which will update the 2013 report, Getting it Right: Improving End of Life Care for People Living with Liver Disease
(produced during the era of the National Liver Disease Strategy - since canned by the Department of Health).

We would love to hear your views on whether you have discussed end of life care with your clinician? What would you like to know? How would you like to manage your end of life care? Contact Sarah via email:

Fundraising: Asda Community Fund

We are delighted to have been selected by Asda's Castlepoint store in Bournemouth, as one of three charities to be supported by their green token scheme, part of the Asda Community Life Programme.
At the end of March the charity with the most tokens will receive a donation of £500. Thank you for anyone that has supported us so far and dropped a green token into our pot. It is filling up fast! We are hoping that any money we receive will go towards funds to maintain and expand our LiverChat! support groups.
