Learning about Place Through Food

Hosted by the Community Engagement Fellows,  Learning about Place Through Food  is on Tuesday, December 10 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Deming Public Library in Deming, Washington.

Community Engagement Fellows is co-hosting this event alongside Common Threads, East Whatcom Regional Resource Center-Opportunity Council, PeaceHealth, Whatcom County Library System, WWU Community Health Program, WWU Salish Sea Institute, WWU Sustainable Communities Partnership, and York Community Farm.

Learning about Place Through Food is open to all seeking to build and improve place-based education that focuses on local foods and food systems. We hope to include a wide array of people who harvest, grow, process, cook, eat, and teach about local food.

The event will be an active social learning space following the Community Engagement Fellows model. This approach generates relationship-building and knowledge-acquisition about each other's work, and reveals opportunities for collaboration.

We will focus around a series of design clinics (click here for a description) focused on requests for help relate to food education in our region. Those who RSVP will be given an opportunity to submit a design clinic request as the event approaches.
