Hong Kong shows support for ‘Paint the Town Purple’ in March

In its 4th consecutive year, Enlighten’s ‘Paint the Town Purple’ promoted and encouraged people and companies to ‘go purple’ and raise epilepsy awareness. This year Enlighten had over 50 supporting organisations that went the extra mile and made an effort to support the purple movement.

Some of the highlights of the campaign:
  • Purple Wheel on Victoria Harbor (Mar 26th)

To mark Purple Day for international epilepsy awareness, The Hong Kong Observation wheel turned its lights purple and also invited our members to have a ride and enjoy dazzling 360 degree views.
  • Alexandra (5) and Georgina (9) raise over HK$10k for Enlighten on their Birthdays.

We at the charity are overwhelmed by the generosity and wonderful deed by these two girls who helped raise money for Enlighten using their Birthdays where they asked guests to contribute donations rather than to an expensive gift. You too can start using Two Presents and fundraise at your next party. 兩位充滿愛心的小女孩Alexandra 與 Georgina 於自己的生會上為啟迪會籌得超過港幣一萬圓,來支持本會。
  • Boutique Fashion Show (Mar 12th)

The Feel Good Factor on Wyndham Street played host to a boutique fashion show called Paint the Town Purple in Style. Training for the Staff at The Nesbitt Center
(Mar 23rd)

Enlighten visited The Nesbitt Centre, a Hong Kong charity that provides educational programmes for adults with learning disabilities, to train their 14 staff members on seizure management. The staff had witnessed a student experience a seizure during class and wanted to ensure that they possessed the correct knowledge, confidence and ability to deal with any similar incidents in the future.
As part of ‘Paint the Town Purple’ they were kind enough to design a large piece of purple artwork created by their students. They also changed the colour of their logo to purple on their social media for us.本會與特殊教育中心 ─ 思拔中心的14名同工分享有關腦癇發作的基本急救知識。為支持關注腦癇月,他們的學員創作一幅手工藝送給本會。
