ASV is a Cardiac-Protected School

American School of Valencia has recently installed a semi automatic defibrillator in the main school entrance, in front of the offices. In addition to this, this week some staff members took a first aid course which included theory and training on the use of this device. Read more on our News section.

Final List of Parent Delegates

Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to serve as parent delegates for the 2015-2016 school year. Parent delegates serve as liaisons between the school and the school community. They assist staff with providing information to the families of the classrooms they represent, serve as reference points for school initiatives, and help classroom teachers organize special activities or events. Our school policy is to have only one delegate per classroom. We selected the first parent to express interest in each classroom this year as the delegate. However, we recognize that on some meeting dates, some delegates might not be able to attend. In those cases, we have listed classroom alternates, who can fill in on those occasions. Delegates can communicate internally with alternates if they are unable to meet on a particular date to ensure there is representation for that classroom during the meeting. Please remember that there should only be one representative per classroom, per meeting.

Find on Google Drive the list of Parent Delegates for 2015-2016.

We encourage all families to establish and remain in contact with your respective classroom delegate to stay updated on the most current school news. All Meetings will be held from 15:15-16:15 in Conference Room One. Preschool and Elementary Meetings will be:

ASV Graduate Contributes to an Important Research on Anthropology

Domingo Carlos Salazar-García, a student part of the Class of 1999, was recently on the news for his research at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, in Leipzig, Germany. This ASV graduate was part of the scientific team that investigated a group of human tombs dated ca. 9,000 BC and east central Brazil and found the oldest case of decapitation in the Americas. Read more about his work on this project.

Pickup Policy for Elementary Parents

School policy and Spanish law require that a parent be present to pick up children after school. If your child does not ride the bus, please ensure you make arrangements to pick up in person during dismissal. Students may not walk home without parental supervision. Thank you for your assistance with this important safety matter.

New Conference Sign Up Procedures

Parent/Teacher conferences for  students in Nursery and Prekinder 1 will begin in a couple weeks. The purpose of these meetings is to share  observations about how students are settling in at ASV and how they are adapting to a second language.  Parents will be able to see work that their son/daughter has done and have some feedback about his or her development.

Conferences will take place on:
  • Thursday, October 15, 2015. Nursery.
  • Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16, 2015. Prekinder 1.
They will be held in our Conference Rooms just beyond the Theatre, down the hallway near the infirmary. Please remember to be punctual as our conferences are only 30 minutes per child and we have a very tight schedule. Please follow this link to book your meeting online on Google Calendar.
We appreciate you use your new parent Google account to sign up and to type your child’s name on the box “Description” when booking your appointment.
