ASV VOICES # 51 / FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2015

Dear ASV Community,

As President of the ASV Board of Governors, I am pleased to share with you a project that I promoted full of enthusiasm as a first step of the events planned to celebrate the 35th anniversary of our school.

I want to introduce you ASV Values, an audiovisual production made to highlight the values present in our school mission. Throughout simple but inspiring sequences, this video shows how our students grow up in an atmosphere where they can develop values such as responsibility, cooperation, respect and an open mindset.

ASV Values has been produced by the ASV communication and marketing team, putting all of the effort and commitment they had to make the best possible result. Please, enjoy this work on the school website at www.asvalencia.org and on our You Tube channel. I invite you to share it with friends and relatives to show the future that, as school community, we are building for our children, as I am sure that this future begins at the American School of Valencia.

Finally, let me take this opportunity to wish you a happy holidays and a joyous new year.

Alberto Domingo
President of the Board of Governors
American School of Valencia

Winter Break

On behalf of all our staff, have a wonderful holiday season and a joyous new year! We will see you back at school on January 7, 2016.

ASV Calendar 2016 is here

This week we sent home the ASV Calendar 2016. Following our tradition, the students in Preschool (Kinder) and Elementary (1st to 5th grade) contributed depicting diverse cultural celebrations existing around the world. We hope all of our community enjoys this new design and will purchase a copy. Find more information on the letter delivered with the calendar or read it online here.

Special Activities in Preschool

Our youngest students enjoyed a special week, plenty of holiday spirit. On Wednesday PK1, PK2 and Kinder offered a lovely Winter Concert at our theater. On Thursday morning Santa visited their classes and today all of them had a special snack before leaving the school.

Holiday Boxes for Pásalo Puzol.

Thank you to all of the ASV Community for their generous contributions!

11th Graders Visited El Preventorio

Fifteen grade 11 students recently visited a children's home in Real de Gandia. (El Preventorio Infantil de Nuestra Señora del Amparo)  They spend the day doing festive craft activities with the children, who are aged between 3 - 11.  Our students demonstrated outstanding leadership skills as they connected with the young children, during both structured activities as well as during the schools break time. Read more and view other pictures on the school website.

Google Certificacion Workshop

Eighteen staff members attended a Google Certification Workshop conducted by Mr. Kevin Tracy on Saturday December 12 and Sunday December 13. They were trained on the advanced use of Google tools in educational environments and now are ready to face the official exam and become a Google Certified Educator Level 1. Our aim is that all the staff will obtain this certification and we will be running two other workshops by February and, if possible, April.
New pictures and videos in the Google Site (some more will be posted during the Christmas Holidays)

All ASV+ students from PK2 to 9th grade must have received their Progress Reports, if not please email Ms Escarlata Casas (asvplus@asvalencia.org)
