ASV DAY October 2015
This year we are celebrating our community's spirit on October 3rd. As always there will be bouncy castles, arts & crafts, live music, face painting, sports activities, a paella contest and much much more. Refreshments will be served throughout the day and a full paella lunch including, salad, and fruits will be served for the low cost of 1 Euro.
Next week we will be contacting ASV families asking for parents to join our staff and students volunteering on the day. We will also be sending information about how to sign up for the Paella Contest.
Thanks so much,
ASV DAY Committee

Reading Support Program. Call for Volunteers
We are asking for volunteers to assist with our reading support program, which will start in October. This is an opportunity for parents and high school students to read individually with students at the elementary level. Typically, the students our volunteers work with are beginning readers or students in need of additional assistance with literacy development. The time commitment is generally 15-20 minutes each week.
For this program to be successful we need volunteers who are native speakers of either Spanish or English.
Volunteering in this manner is of great assistance to our students. Teachers really appreciated your cooperation last year and they are looking forward to resuming this initiative in the near future. Please contact Ms. Librada in the office if interested. Thank you for considering.

Students will be assessed on how well they have learned the content standards for their grade in content areas of Reading and Mathematics.

Parents Night in Elementary School
Thank you for attending the parent night sessions the past two weeks. We had an outstanding turnout! It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to personally introduce myself to many of you and to outline the goals for the Preschool and Elementary division this year. As you saw, we truly have a world class team here at ASV. If you should require any additional information on our initiatives or programs this year, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Respectfully,
Dr. Adam Spina
Preschool and Elementary Principal

Elementary School Assemblies
This year, our school assemblies will revolve around the theme of our school commitments. These are: Be Respectful, Come Prepared, Be Engaged, and Be Responsible. Each classroom will host an assembly in which students will model what these behaviors look like in various parts of the school. Examples include the park, bus, and dining hall. We made some adjustments to the structure of the assemblies to make them topical and engaging. Please consider attending these events, the students will be excited to see you in the audience. The schedule for assemblies is listed below:
