2021-2022 Academic Results

Detailed information on External Exams

After finishing the 2021-2022 Academic Year, the American School of Valencia is pleased to share the academic results achieved by the Class of 2022 in their external examinations. This information includes the UNED PCE examinations, the International Baccalaureate (IB) external examinations, and in some cases, the SAT Tests.  Please take a few minutes to read about these student successes below:

UNED PCE Exams

Grade 12 students interested in applying to a Spanish public university must take the Pruebas de Competencia Específica (PCE) exams administered by the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED).  The Class of 2022 cohort achieved an extraordinary Final University Entrance Grade of 8.81 points (out of 10), the highest PCE (formerly called Selectividad) result in ASV history.  The results were communicated on June 22, 2022 and shared with the ASV Community on June 28, 2022

International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP)
Grade 12 students completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program at ASV received the initial results of the IB external results  on July 5, 2022.  This year, 35 candidates out of 36 earned the IB Diploma, which means that ASV had a passing rate of 97.22%.  The ASV mean was 34.6 points, the second highest result since ASV began offering the IB Diploma in 2004-2005.  The highest IB result was 43 points.

IB scores are measured over 45 points because candidates can earn a maximum of 7 points in each of the 6 IB subjects and 3 points with the Extended Essay, the Theory of Knowledge course, and the Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) portfolio.
SAT
In addition to the PCE and IB academic results of the Class of 2022, ASV also administers other external assessments that serve as key indicators of student performance in high school.  One of these assessments, especially for students who wish to study in the United States, is the SAT organized by The College Board.

In 2021-2022, ASV students earned an average of 642 in Reading and Writing and 676 in Math, both out of 800, which is the maximum possible score in each exam. With a cumulative average score of over 1,300, our students are certainly in elite company to access American universities.

The ASV mean in Reading and Writing was 114 points higher than the world average of 528, and in Math it was 153 points above the world average of 523. Additionally, two students earned a perfect 800 in Math and another student earned a 790.

These are academic results that the entire ASV community can be proud of, and we would like to extend our congratulations to the students, their families, and the faculty-staff who support a consistent commitment to excellence.  That is the ASV Difference.

ASV Teams in Action (Athletic Conferences)

ASV is excited to offer additional athletic opportunities for our students in Middle School and High School at the Junior Varsity and Varsity levels respectively.

As members of the Valencia International School League, Iberian League and European Sports Conference, ASV continues to be at the vanguard of competing and  hosting a series of athletic competitions across all sports.  The 2022-2023 athletic calendar will feature a host of exciting athletic opportunities for all of our student-athletes to compete as a team.

The Athletics Team  is planning competition opportunities for student-athletes enrolled in ASV+. For Elementary students we will hold the “Olympiad” and end of the season tournaments for each grade level.
For MIddle School (Grades 6-8) and High School (Grades 9-12) we have an extensive calendar, click on the links below for details: At ASV, we see the undoubted benefits of our student-athletes understanding and developing  their role as part of a team. Our successes are evident and visible to anyone who takes a look at our trophy case, as a result of the  commitment to our values and our focus on developing a high performance athletic program.
Beyond the competitive aspect,  students, families, faculty-staff and coaches are brought together through our athletic activities. A positive school spirit is an important feature of our school  identity.

We pride ourselves on our determination to promote healthy competition opportunities and we appreciate the support of the ASV community as our teams learn the many benefits of training and competing the “ASV Way”.
