Arrival Information about CSN Students

We are excited to receive in our campus the students from the Community School of Naples (Florida). The CSN expedition will be welcomed at Valencia airport on Wednesday afternoon by their exchange peers, and the host families. The group will join our school routine on Thursday, together with several CSN staff members.

Final update on the Fallas Workshop

It has rivers, mountains, and artwork galore. The ASV Fallas is a must-see.  From parents to teachers to students down through pre-k, it is a complete collaboration of thoughts, backgrounds, and hard working hands. This depiction of world cultures will be on display in the school all next week. Be sure to stop by and see this buffet of cultures, for it won't last long.

Thank you to everyone who has assisted in the construction of the ASV Fallas. And a special thank you to our fearless leader Ms. Jackie. How lucky we are to be apart of your masterpiece.

SSL Students Enjoy Fallas

A tradition in our school is that international students taking SSL (Spanish as Second Language) have a chance to enjoy Valencia during its most well-known festival, the Fallas. So on Wednesday March 2, 50 High School students and our teachers Ms. Eugènia Bayarri and Ms. Lucía Gómez, visited the Ninot Exhibition and enjoyed a chocolate and the mascletà in the town center. SSL Elementary students, with Ms. Ana Arjona and Ms. Elena Corchs, had their tour on Thursday, but they started visiting the workshop where the official Falla is being built.

Ready to live Fallas at ASV?

This coming Friday, March 11, Elementary and Preschool celebrate the ASV Fallas Day. Ms. Mila Casalvázquez, coordinator of the ASV Spanish Department, invites all of our community to live together this event. "Parents have an online document where we listed the specific rooms where they can help students to dress up before the event", she explained. The Students not using the traditional fallas costume may come with blusón and neckerchief.

Grade 5 Explored Sagunto

Grade 5 had a field trip to this nearby town, completing a guided tour focused on the archeological remains of Iberian, Roman and Medieval times. Students needed all their energies for a long walk which included the steep hill where the Roman theater and the castle are located. Well done!

The Life of a Student-Athlete  at American Universities

A group of 9th, 10th and 11th grade students attended a workshop about accessing American universities as student-athletes. Conducted by ASV Director, Mr. Michael L. Smith, the students received an overview of the American university system, admission requirements and the extraordinary dimension of sports at American universities. They learned which variables are taken into account, including High School grades, SAT or ACT tests results, personal essays, and their athletic level.
Regarding athletics, Mr. Smith offered some interesting statistics about the most popular university sports, and the challenges and opportunities offered to student-athletes at the university level.  Although not all international student-athletes have a sufficient athletic level to earn athletic scholarships, Mr. Smith pointed out that international student-athletes with an above-average athletic level have some additional advantages due to their multilingual and multicultural backgrounds and have opportunities to earn partial academic scholarships.
The session concluded with a trivia-style game asking about fun facts about American university life!
