Join us on Friday, October 28, 2016, from 18.00 to 22:00 for a new edition of the Halloween Party organized by the American School of Valencia Foundation. Visitors can have a “frightening” time going through the Haunted House, enjoying delicious treats at the bake sale, and taking part in the costume contest. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Stay tuned for new updates on the ASV Foundation Facebook fan page, as well as information about parent and student volunteers ASV Foundation Facebook fan page.

During the school day, on October 28, 2016, ASV also has a variety of activities planned for the students. Preschool and Elementary students may come in costume.  It is  important that students are comfortable, however, so please keep that in mind when selecting or making your child's costume.  In addition, we ask that students do not bring plastic swords, guns and other such objects.  High School students will have an opportunity to change into costumes before we begin the festivities in high school in the afternoon.

ASV Day 2016. Thank You for Making it Possible!

American School of Valencia held its annual community day on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The school campus opened at 11:30 and families enjoyed a wide variety of the scheduled activities. Young children had an age-appropriate activity in the Preschool parks, including  face painting and colorful handicrafts. Inflatable rides, the dunk tank, and other stands were placed in Parks A, B and C.  We had original activities such as the “Science Meets Arts” tent, a clay workshop led by Jumping Clay, and the robotics stand prepared by Ingenio Kids, a school partner with the ASV+ Program.

This year the paella contest area was moved to the parking lot. Participants prepared their recipes while the Colevisa staff prepared the seven paellas (each one for 150 people) needed in the Dining Hall. The Dining Hall was full of parents and children having the ASV Day official menu

The most eagerly awaited event was the raffle. We had great prizes including two GoPro cameras, hotel and dinner tickets, tennis rackets, and a bike. We greatly appreciate the continued generosity of our sponsors, without them this part of the day could not be possible. A huge thanks to many staff members, parents, and students, who volunteered during the ASV Day.

Deadline to Send the Technology Use Agreement

With stringent new privacy laws, the Technology Agreements are essential at ASV. If you have not returned your form with both parent signatures and the permission box checked if the student is under 14, please do so immediately.  Without these permissions, accounts will be disabled and students will not have access to the school's technology beginning October 19, 2016

Updates on Campus Enhancements

We recently saw substantial progresses in the new building under construction at the school campus. Aluminium panels now cover the façade while inside, many rooms, especially on the top floor, are almost ready to be equipped with furniture. Senior students will soon be using the new dining hall.

Parent Delegate Meeting: Communication Proceedings and Topics discussed

ASV held its first Parent Delegate meeting of the year this past Monday. We greatly appreciate the service of our delegates. One of their primary functions is to serve as a liaison between grade level parents and the school. Due to new data protection laws, however, we can no longer provide the delegates with each parent's email address nor can we publish the delegate email addresses.  Therefore, next week we will provide each delegate with an email group and they will  contact the parents in their class. For informative purposes, you can view the presentation to understand the topics discussed during our meeting.

The 12th Grade Science Class had a field trip to the Albufera

Ballet Distinction for Two ASV Students

We would like to congratulate Paula Navarro and Marta Peris,  who recently known the result of the Primary Exam provided by the Royal Academy of Dance.  These ballet students passed with 79 and 77 points and earned a Distinction.  Paula and Marta are “excited” preparing the Grade 1 exam, scheduled for May 2017.  Silvia Grau, ASV+ teacher and qualified instructor of the RAD, explained that the British system is positive “for many kind of children, regardless their age or skills”, because they “feel engaged to keep on practicing and passing the grade level exams”.
