■ English Class

Today’s teachers and Participants: Masanorii, Doug, Michael, Koji, Katsuyo, Akie, Yoshio, Masako, Okuyama (Newcomer), Hidemi, Kayoko, Yumi, Takato, Seiko, Kuno, Keiko, Karin and Sanae.

    Masanori's Lecture
Masanori's lecture was on the many uses of the word "drive."

We studied conversation situations.

Situation 1.
Okuyama (newcomer) wants to make a cell-phone contract in a shop. The salesclerk is Doug, the computer teacher.

Situation 2.
Masako talked about a friend. The friend is Doug.

Situation 3.
Koji orders lunch in a shop. The waiter is Doug.

Masanori's advice: You should ask a shopkeeper questions until you understand, and decide.
解るまで相手に質問しなさい。

   Doug's Lecture

We were not able to connect with Myles and Rosalie from New York at the usual time. But they did say hello when Doug came to the classroom. We missed the usual visit though and look forward to next time!

Stress on different words changes the meaning of the sentence.

I never said she stole my money.
I never said she stole my money.
I never said
she stole my money.
I never said she stole my money.
I never said she stole my money.
I never said she stole my money.

Doug taught us the song "Bless the Beasts and Children" from the movie of the same name, by The Carpenters, and we sang along.

And Akie requested this song for Walt: "When the Saints Go Marching in" - and everybody sang along.
