NEWS FROM THE CHAIR
Spring is finally here! I saw two robins this week and that is sure sign that warmer weather is on our doorstep. Spring cleaning, both inside and outside seems to be happening everywhere – it is nice way to get rid of the last signs of winter. As we flip the calendar to May we have a lot to look forward to...Continue Reading

GARDEN PLANNING IN FULL SWING!

Our second garden planning meeting was held on April 30th and our team of volunteers and clients planned every square foot of garden space. We want to thank everyone who has committed time to join in the food growing experience, and are looking forward to seeing new faces come out and join us in the garden. Contact us for more details on how to join our Gardening Group.

YOUTH SERVICES WITH THE SGBCHC

The South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre has partnered with schools in our region and the Wasaga Beach Youth Centre to co-ordinate several initiatives that work to support youth in our community:
Student Health Services
This service runs at 4 local highschools and aims to provide confidential health services to students in a school setting. Students get to see a Registered Nurse from the SGBCHC for any mental, emotional, and physical health related concerns.
Girls Talk
Girls Talk is an eight-session anti-stigma program for girls, generally between the ages of 13 and 16. The focus is on preventing depression and educating the girls about depression. We run this program in local highschools during school hours.
Roots of Empathy
At the heart of this program are a parent and infant who visit a classroom every three weeks over an entire school year. Our Youth Counsellor, a trained Roots of Empathy instructor, coaches students to observe the baby's development and to label the baby's feelings. In this experiential learning, the children learn to identify and reflect on their own feelings and the feelings of others.

In addition to these programs, we run several annual or special events in the community. Contact us for more details!
SATELLITE LOCATION IN ELMVALE
Team members from the SGBCHC attended the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival to help spread the word about the services we offer at our satellite location in the Springwater Health Services Centre. It was a bustling event and we want to thank everyone that took time to inquire about our services and programs! Follow this link for more information on services at the SGBCHC, and where you can access them.
