UPCOMING EVENT: Michael Gayed & Generating Alpha

Winner of the 2014 Charles H. Dow Award, which recognizes outstanding research in technical analysis, Michael A. Gayed will speak on Generating Alpha: Predicting volatility and corrections on Dec. 10 at 103 West.

With Pension Partners LLC colleague Charlie Bilello, Gayed co-authored two award-winning papers in 2014 that challenge the efficient market hypothesis by revealing market anomalies that have persisted over time. In separate papers, he and Bilello focus on the utilities sector and Treasury bonds, providing a systematic way to outperform the market on an absolute and risk-adjusted basis.

    •    The first time the Detroit Lions played football on Thanksgiving Day was in 1934, when they hosted the Chicago Bears at the University of Detroit stadium, in front of 26,000 fans. Since that time, they have played a game every Thanksgiving (except between 1939 and 1944). (Source: history.com)
