Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Research Day 2015

We are very excited to inform you that our departmental research day, 2015 Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Research Day, will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015.  The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Nahum Sonenberg (McGill University).  Dr. Nahum Sonenberg is a world renowned researcher in the field of translation initiation in eukaryotes.  He discovered the mRNA cap-binding protein, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E), and has continued to explore the implications of his discovery and has provided critical insights into the role of eIF4E in health and disease. 

Notification of Oral or Poster presentation will be sent to you March 6, 2015.
Deadline for Submission of Poster is March 20, 2015.

Update In PathologyWestern Pathology Association (WPA) Valentine Candygrams

The Valentine's Day candygram event overseen by the Western Pathology Association (WPA) was a complete success. Faculty, students and staff members donned smiles as over 100 candygrams were sold and delivered. Proceeds go towards the execution of future social and academic events for the students within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

On January 27th, 2015, students of graduate research-based and Pathologists' Assistant programs came together for dinner followed by a night of bowling. This exciting event promoted intermingling between the two graduate program streams within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Read more.
Update In PathologyDr. Victor Prabhakaran is Retiring

It is with mixed emotions we announce that Dr. Victor Prabhakaran, Division Head of Biochemistry & Immunology and Core Labs & Point of Care Testing, will retire on February 27, 2015. Recruitment for his successor will start immediately. During the recruitment process, Dr. Vipin Bhayana will take on the role of Acting Division Head.
Update In PathologyNathan J. Johnston completes his  MSc Thesis

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory of Medicine would like to offer congratulations to Nathan J. Johnston, who has completed his MSc in Pathology. Dr. Wei-Ping Min is Nathan's MSc supervisor. The title of Nathan's Thesis is "miRNA Regulation of Programmed Cell Death-1 in T Cells: Potential Prognostic and Therapeutic Markers in Melanoma". Read more.
