Regional Conference
Come hear their address to LMSA Southwest!
Regional Elections will be held on Sunday, February 5th at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas to conclude the House of Delegates meeting. Any medical student in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico or Colorado must be able to join us in person to run for a position.

Please visit our website for the election overview, timeline and application. To access the application, you will be asked to sign in with a free google email address.

Your application and supporting documents (resume/CV and headshot) must be submitted by Sunday, January 29th. A copy will automatically be sent to the email address you provide. These materials will be reviewed by the Southwest Body of Delegates prior to elections.

When: Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th, 2023
One chapter president or representative from each chapter is required to attend in person to vote at the House of Delegates meeting on Sunday and maintain active status.

Tickets for conference attendees are available through our website.

We will be using the LMSA Hub app for conference attendees to view the agenda and sign up for workshops. Please look out for an email from us after ticket sales close for more information about parking, morning check-in and meals included as well as your code to access the LMSA app.

Gala tickets for the dinner are available for students and their guests! We will be celebrating graduating seniors and presenting awards, including Southwest chapter of the year and research awards. Drink tickets are included. After party to follow! Tickets are limited.

 LMSA National Stoles 

If you paid 4 year member dues, LMSA National owes you a stole (value: $50) even if you don’t go to conference or the policy summit. To claim your stole and arrange shipping by your May graduation date, you must email LMSA National's CDO, Santos Acosta, at so that they can verify you are on the list. Please do so as soon as you can to ensure your stole is delivered on time. Remember that other seniors across the country will be ordering stoles as well and supply is limited. 
 LMSA Southwest Cords

If you are a senior medical student attending conference and gala, please sign up here by January 18th to get recognized at the graduating senior ceremony on Saturday, February 4th. You must complete the form by the deadline to ensure you will have a cord - they are free! And no, you don't have to pay member dues :)
 Recognition Form
If you are a senior medical student but not attending gala, we would will still like to recognize you as one of the 6% of Latino physicians in the US! Fill out the form here by February 5th to get recognized on LMSA Southwest social media channels.
Be sure to send in a recording of your abstract presentation (8-10 min) and a PDF of your poster by Jan 8th so that the judges can preview and judge beforehand. There will still be an in-person component where judges and students may come to ask questions. Email with any questions. 

Research Symposium attendees must also register for the conference by January 10th. Email for your coupon code. Gala tickets are sold separately and highly encouraged as research awards will be presented.
Chapter Presidents
Chapter presidents and executive board members, as we are wrapping up the semester we require all active chapters to submit a brief progress report on what their chapter accomplished during the semester.

Keep in mind, our SW Chapter of the Year Award is based on the content of your progress report so feel free to be detailed and include photos. Here are some examples of progress reports from last year.

Please submit the progress report to  by January 15, 2023.
Chapter Competition Form

We would like to most accurately recognize the chapter who donated the most money to the 2022 CATB fundraiser. If you are a chapter president and you donated a lump sum collected from your members, please fill out the form with that amount. If your chapter had members make donations individually, please send this form out to have them report their donations. Please submit the form by January 29. 

Winning chapter will be recognized at conference and be given a prize! 
Networking & Mentorship Event

From applying to medical school to picking a specialty, come learn about the different paths to medicine. Register here for LMSA SW's Networking & Mentorship Event- El Camino to Medicine taking place on January 24 from 6-7pm.


National Policy SALUD Summit
March 25-27

Policy Resolution writing is in full swing for the upcoming National Policy SALUD Summit! If you are interested in policy or have an idea for change at the LMSA or federal level, then let’s get in touch! Policy help links are available here: Policy Resolutions template and workshop video. No previous policy experience is necessary to get involved. Deadline for resolutions submission is February 1st. Email us if you have any questions- 

If you are interested in submitting an abstract for the SALUD Summit, you can do so hereDeadline for abstract submission is February 1st. 

LMSA Policy & Advocacy team is inviting you to join our monthly policy curriculum sessions. Sign up at the Google Form link to get access to sessions you want to join and access to the Google Class modules to learn at your own pace. This curriculum is complementary to the upcoming LMSA National SALUD (Student Advocacy, Leadership, Unity and Diversity) Summit: El Pueblo Unido!! March 25-27th, 2023 in Washington DC. The event will be held at Georgetown University School of Medicine and will include workshops on policy writing, leadership building, legislative visits and DEI initiatives as well as a research symposium and exhibitor fair.

We induct new chapters at monthly regional meetings.
