Mitcham Orchard secures funding for a new water pipe!
"We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many of you in our attempt to reach our Spacehive campaign target of £2,318!
60 of you kindly donated to the cause in the past ten days and we have also received offers from four other donors, so that we are now confident we have reached our goal. THANK YOU so much for your generosity and support, it means a great deal to me all the team" - Tom Walsh

Sustainable Merton goes to TryCycle Twickenham
|
|
On 10th April, Sustainable Merton's Tom Walsh and Curt Brown (Air Quality Leader) joined the London Sustainability Exchange to promote cycling to work at this year's TryCycle Twickenham event. This was also an opportunity for us to inform the public about the air quality monitoring work we are carrying out in Merton.

Health & Well-Being Day
On 11th April, Tom Walsh led a number of gardening workshops for staff of Mitcham schools as part of their Health and Well-Being Day.
A lot of positive feedback was received about what was useful, including how gardening can be used to support a curriculum, how to use gardening tools properly and safely, and learning more about the work that Sustainable Merton does.
|
Attendees enjoyed the practical part of the session and most said they would be interested in learning more about gardening for well-being.

Around 50 volunteers of all ages and gardening abilities joined our Big Dig this year! Events took place at three of our community gardens to prepare for the growing season, and all who came along did a fantastic job!
"The children were keen to learn about gardening and excited to plant strawberries and spring onions. They are now eager to see how the garden will grow and what it will produce!" - Lizzie, Sustainable Merton

Merton Green Parents: Nappy Advice Day!
Organiser Abby tells us about the group's successful drop-in event
|
|
"We had a great day at the Gooseberry Bush Cafe talking to parents about the joys of cloth nappies and parenthood in general. Everyone from a dad of a 4 day old baby to someone looking for advice on potty training pants came along! It's going to be a busy few months with nappy hires but we are still able to do one-to-one demos, or come to our weekly Wednesday meet-up to chat about cloth nappies and more!"
