Sustainable Merton's Quiz Night
"A big thank you to all our supporters who made it to our recent quiz night. Such a fun way to raise money for one of our oldest projects!

Phipps Bridge Community Garden has been running for 7 years but has never been funded externally, so we raise the money we need from our supporters and the local community. The £900 raised will be used to improve access to the garden with the building of a ramp, and for tools, seeds, canes and other essential items needed to maintain this important community space.

Thanks again for your support! We will certainly run another soon" - Tom Walsh

Healthy Schools Celebration Day!

On Saturday 28th May, over 580 people attended this free event sponsored by Public Health Merton. Sustainable Merton's stall offered visitors the chance to sow herb and sunflower seeds and receive recycling advice. Guests also enjoyed activities such as football, hula hooping, basketball, circus skills training and yoga, and in tune with the healthy theme of the day, fruit kebabs and smoothies were served as refreshments.

BioBlitz 2016
On Saturday 4th June, explorers of all ages came along to Morden Hall Park for the National Trust's BioBlitz. Visitors helped identify and record the park's abundant wildlife species and found out more about the work of local environmental groups.

We were delighted to meet the 90 people who visited our stall. Adults/parents were keen to chat about what we do and how they might get involved, whilst the children enjoyed hunting for minibeasts and planting sunflower seeds (left)
Morden Street Clean-Up: Saturday 25th June, 11am
Tom Killick (Merton Green Party) tells us more about the community clean-up...
"Merton Green Party and Merton Park Ward Residents Association are jointly organising a clean-up and collection of recyclables. Many thanks are due to Councillor Peter Southgate for making this possible.

The footpath between London Road and Kenley Road adjoins an area strewn with rubbish, including many recyclable bottles and cans. It's a private road so not the Council's responsibility to clean. We aim to collect as much recyclable material as we can and move rubbish to the main road for the Council to clear." Email killicktom@hotmail.com or call 07821 882380 to take part
VOLUNTEER BLOG: Links School Gardening Club
"Our Gardening Club teaches children about the importance of sustainability and growing the fruits, vegetables and herbs they eat.

Our keen gardeners at Links school enjoy getting outdoors to help with weeding, digging, planting and composting, and are also learning about the biological process of a seed growing into a plant. We were all particularly excited to put together the new school wormery and discover how it works and how it will benefit the school garden"  - Lizzie
