Thursday 11th February

** Sustainable Merton's Annual General Meeting **

7.30pm, Drake House, 44 St Georges Road, Wimbledon SW19 4ED

We warmly invite our supporters, volunteers and partners to join us at our upcoming AGM. The evening will include a series of short talks given by partners and sister groups on the following theme: 

 'What is the future for community groups in Merton, following the Paris climate talks agreement?'  - Hear from Merton’s grassroots organisations about their plans to support local action.

We expect these talks to generate discussion from the floor and afterwards we would like to offer you refreshments and a chance to network and catch up with old friends. We hope you are able to join us!


14th - 21st  February
National Nest Box Week!

Help celebrate, promote and enhance the biodiversity and conservation of our breeding birds and wildlife by putting up nest boxes in your local area. Everyone is encouraged to take part, including families, schools and local groups.

Sustainable Merton worked with Gorringe Park School, local residents and project partners to create a short film about the amazing transformation of Fieldgate Lane, Mitcham.The film captures the spirit of the project and tells a story of the possibilities arising from successful partnerships and community involvement! WATCH >>

Faircatch - Wandsworth's Fresh Community Supported Fishery

Looking for super-fresh, sustainable fish? Faircatch are now offering collections from the Wimbledon YMCA and Gooseberry Bush Cafe!

Faircatch pay fisherman a fair price and support only those using low-impact, environmentally-sound fishing methods. They encourage members to eat a wider range of locally-caught species, helping to keep food miles to a minimum, and create zero food waste by buying the exact weight ordered.

Where To Get Things Mended...

Green Coffee members have created a very useful directory of places to get things mended to help us rescue & repair old or damaged items that would otherwise be thrown away. 

The list includes local shops and businesses who repair cars, shoes, garden equipment, electricals and much more! ** Download your copy here **
Squirrels Community Scrap Scheme
Squirrels (CSS) are an 'Aladdin cave full of goodies', offering art, craft and play materials to schools, nurseries and all groups with limited funding. Surplus materials from factories, offices, shops and private homes are collected, sorted and displayed at the Squirrels (CSS) warehouse in Ridge Road, Sutton.

Become a member for just a small fee to take advantage of this great local resource! More...

Join local volunteers and Merton's Tree Wardens to help with digging and planting a new hedge to beautify the area. Organised by Abundance Wimbledon member Patrick. Tools provided.

Grazing on Public Open Spaces

Free public talk on how conservation work carried out on the heathland and grassland of Wimbledon & Putney commons mimics what would have historically been done by grazing animals, with a discussion on the possible re-introduction of livestock to help manage the sites (More...)  Enquiries:
