On 7th November, 20 + residents, Cllr. Joan Henry, Michelle (Dig Merton) and Nollaig (Friends of Mitcham Common) teamed up for the Big Plant Out at the Meadows Estate, Mitcham.

Volunteers braved the weather to help plant the entrance and beds at Heath, Orchid Clover and Oak Lodge and residents can now look forward to a very colourful and textured garden in the months ahead!

Well done to everyone, and to Paulette - a true community champion, who organised the whole event! (See more of the action...)

'This year, we helped seven schools in the Mitcham area establish or revitalise their vegetable growing spaces. The summer saw the revitalisation of Phipps Bridge Herb Garden and the start of a new gardening group at Nelson Gardens.
Residents continue to enjoy community action days at award winning Mitcham Community Orchard & Gardens and Viridian Housing have asked us to help establish a gardening committee at Lavender Avenue in the new year.'

Our work with NCS The Challenge 2015

We have had the pleasure of working with two groups of young people from NCS The Challenge this year...  Team Eco-Sexy and Team Reiss each selected Sustainable Merton as their chosen charity to raise awareness and fundraise for, and both have shown impressive levels of initiative and enthusiasm for our cause!

Following their great work at Mitcham Community Orchard and Gardens' Hedge Planting Day on 7th November, Team Reiss have already raised funds for a brand new bench for the orchard. So a big thank you from Sustainable Merton!
