School Gardening Club: We couldn't resist sharing this lovely photo of our Year 4 gardeners at Lonesome School. The children were very excited to see how much the potato plants had grown and to get started on their next jobs!
Sustainable Merton at the Wimbledon Village Fair
We spoke to over 100 visitors at the Wimbledon Village Fair and asked many of them about their knowledge and use of LED's using our simple quiz and demo. Do you know how the life expectancy of an LED compares to an incadescent bulb?
Our FACTSHEET has the answer, plus
more information about making the switch. Some residents we spoke to raised specific concerns about issues such as the introduction of wheelie bins and too few public bins in parks.
Merton Green Parents Fun Day

Getting crafty with recycled materials
"Merton Green Parents had another great family fun day. More than 10 huge bags of clothes and toys were swapped or donated to Oxfam and the Little Village project. The children enjoyed cupcake decorating and making butterflies and flowers out of scrap paper and lollipop sticks.

Thank you to everyone who came along, got involved in the day or donated to the raffle - you helped raise over £120 for the nappy library which will be put towards our newborn and night nappy kits!" - Abby

Meet our new trustee...

"Hello everyone! My name is Justyna and I am very proud to say that I will be joining Sustainable Merton's team of trustees!

I am originally from Poland and have been living in the UK for over 13 years. I am a Colliers Wood resident, where I live with my husband and two children. I have recently completed a Masters degree (MSc) in Environmental and Earth Resources Management at Kingston University.

Planting sunflowers with a little Community Champion
Someone once said "think globally, act locally" and there is no better opportunity to do so than getting involved in the fantastic job Sustainable Merton are doing for our community. I truly believe that by changing my own behaviour and encouraging people around me to follow is the best way to achieve a good change and tackle sustainability issues.
