'What is the future for community groups in Merton, following the Paris climate summit?' 
On 11th February, 40 members & supporters joined us at our AGM.

During the evening, guests were treated to six short presentations around the general theme of December’s Paris Climate talks. The speakers discussed how individuals, communities and organisations must all contribute to finding solutions to 

meet the challenges arising from climate change. Find out more about each of the talks HERE >>>

Mitcham Community Orchard & Gardens Open Day
12 - 4pm, Fieldgate Lane, Mitcham CR4 3AL


 FIND YOUR LONDON! Come and discover Mitcham's best kept secret, the national award winning community orchard in Field Gate Lane.
 
Join local volunteers to help sow fruit and vegetable seeds in pots to take home and nurture until they are ready to plant out. The perfect opportunity to discover how you can get involved during the coming season.
All ages and abilities welcome. No booking necessary, just drop in.

Pollution Busting

Sustainable Merton is partnering the London Sustainability Exchange in an air pollution busting project which covers Merton and Richmond.
The two local Councils and local groups from Cycle Training UK are also taking part in the project, which is targeting local businesses and encouraging more cycling. We will be monitoring air quality (particulates) in 10 new locations in Merton and attending events to engage business employees in the project.

We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Merton, David Chung, at our ESG meeting on 16th February.
Presentations by guest speakers Agamemnon Otero, Jon Buick and Giles Read focussed on the theme of 'How should organisations in Merton be planning for a low carbon future?' The talks and following discussions among members once again highlighted the importance of grass roots action

Help Keep Britain Tidy: Colliers Wood Litter Pick
Time TBC & Waterfall Road, SW19 2AG (Just off Colliers Wood High St.)


As part of the Clean for the Queen campaign, an army of volunteers are being rallied across the country to help clean-up their communities this weekend 

 You can get involved by joining Merton Council's litter pick taking place in Colliers Wood THIS SATURDAY...
We will be litter picking along the bridge, cutting back vegetation and working with volunteers to create a tidier high street in Colliers Wood. Special Clean for the Queen rubbish bags , disposable gloves and High vis jackets will be provided.

NEW FoodCycle Merton due to open Spring 2016
FoodCycle is a nationwide charity using surplus food from supermarkets to cook healthy, meals for vulnerable groups.

A new Food Cycle hub will be opening in Merton this spring and ‪volunteers‬ are needed to lend a hand... 
Available roles include cooking leader, fundraising co-ordinator, plus weekly opportunities. Find out more about becoming a Food Cycle volunteer here >>
