News & Info

Find out what we've been up to and keep up to date with sustainability issues in Merton...

This project is led by Sustainable Merton in partnership with
Abundance Fruit Day 2016
Congratulations to Abundance Wimbledon for their hugely successful sixth annual Fruit Day on 17th September!

Many people contributed to the day and the team send their thanks to everyone who donated cakes, pies, jams, chutneys, plants, fruit & veg and everything else, and to the many volunteers who ran stalls and helped keep the show on the road. The International Ukulele Orchestra and A Capella singers also did a great job of keep visitors entertained throughout the day!

Nearly £1,000 was raised at the event, which will help keep this important community project going. Visit to find out more about the great work they do and how you can get involved too.
Social Prescribing: Research Surveys for London
Healthy London Partnership is looking for contributions towards a chapter on social prescribing for children and young people, and parents and carers.
This could be about ideas or opinions or recommendations of good practice.
As part of the research on this, they have created two surveys, one for children and young people, and one for parents and carers… The survey closing date is 13th October. Find out more HERE>>>
Walk to School Month
In October, children across the country will celebrate International Walk to School Month. Figures show that only 48% of children in the UK walk to school, making this month a great way to encourage more families to do so. The charity Living Streets has come up with some ways to make walking to school more enticing to children, which include playing games on the way, trying fun ways and different routes to and from school and rewards for those that stick with walking to school.
Advertising a volunteer position or job vacancy within the Green Sector? Please email to let us know and we will share these exciting opportunities with our volunteers!
