A Fresh Perspective on Clean Air
London Sustainability Exchange Annual Air Quality Conference
On 30th June Sustainable Merton's Tom Walsh joined community group representatives, academics and policy makers (all at the forefront of the fight for clean air) to share their work, ideas and enthusiasm for air quality solutions. The conference aimed to develop and inform the the vision for the future of London, explore challenges London faces with issues of air quality and initiate discussions on tackling transportation problems and air pollution.

|
"Many of the groups and organizations were grassroots, just like us and I was able to learn a lot about the problems they are facing and the solutions they are hoping to provide."
- Tom Walsh (pictured above right)

Sustainable Merton were among the many local commercial and charity stalls to take part in this year's Morden Family Fun Day.
We spoke to over 100 visitors and
gave away numerous water saving shower timers. Limiting time spent in the shower to 4 minutes can save litres of hot water and reduce your energy bills! It was also very interesting to discover that the main 'water waster' very much varied between families.

Mitcham Orchard's Grand Opening Fete!
It was all hands on deck at Mitcham Orchard's fantastic country fete on 31st July, as our team manned the busy BBQ to feed the many visitors who came to explore and enjoy this wonderful community space!
Around 300 people attended, and it was lovely to see so many familiar faces and meet many more local residents. Our Fundraising Intern, Lucy, also did a great job chatting to guests about the work we do and the orchard's transformation!

They engaged in conversations about our work on air quality, the importance of recycling in the workplace, water conservation and the many opportunities for volunteers to be a part of the work we do. Thank you to the CIPD team for having us!
