** THE BIG DIG 2016 **

The BIG DIG is back and this year we are offering you the chance to explore THREE of our community gardens! Help with digging, weeding and a variety of other tasks to prepare the gardens for the new growing season.The perfect way to celebrate National Gardening Week
~ Phipps Bridge Community Garden11- 2 (SW19 2SY)

~ Lavender Avenue Community Garden11- 2 (CR4 3HH)

~ Mitcham Community Orchard & Gardens, 2- 5 (CR4 3AL)
Mitcham Community Orchard & Gardens will also be hosting a 
BIG DIG BBQ/PICNIC for all those who come and get their hands dirty at any of the three gardens! Enquiries:
‪Crossrail 2‬ presents an opportunity to to make Wimbledon a more pleasant & ‪sustainable‬ town centre. Redevelopment could bring new buildings constructed to the highest levels of energy conservation and efficiency, more space for small local businesses & more >>>

National award WIN for Mitcham Community Orchard & Gardens!
We are very proud to announce that Mitcham Community Orchard & Gardens were awarded 2nd place and "highly commended" in the Community category at the Local Government Chronicle national awards!

Please note that next month's Green Coffee meet up on TUESDAY 5th APRIL will take place at the Wibbas Down Inn - 6 Gladstone Road, Wimbledon SW19 1QT. A space in the middle of the pub between the two entrances has been booked. 

Community Champions Partners Meeting
On 16th March, we held a Community Champions partners meeting to discuss the progress of the project so far, and how we can work together to ensure that future goals are achieved

Opportunities for Champions to develop their skills through training and qualifications and how these will offer routes to work, particularly in the growing 'green sector' were also highlighted. Find out more about the project and how to get involved HERE

PLEASE NOTE: The location of our monthly Green Drinks meet up is under review and the group is therefore on hold until a new spot is decided.

Energy Envoys Scheme
The National Energy Foundation's Energy Envoys Scheme for young people contributes to the volunteering section of a Duke of Edinburgh Award and is a great way to boost your CV. The scheme offers an opportunity to develop valuable communication, analytical and leadership skills and to learn about improving energy, all whilst supporting a good cause!

Annual Voluntary Sector Conference 2016
The team were pleased to be invited to MVSC's first Annual Voluntary Sector Conference! The event was was an opportunity to find out more about the work of other local voluntary organisations and to take part in a number of interesting workshops aimed at supporting this important community sector.

There are many ways to GET INVOLVED with the work we do... From gardening to publicity, community engagement and more!

Volunteers are needed to help keep Abundance running this picking season and prevent local fruit from being wasted. There are lots of opportunities - whether you'd like to get outside to pick some fruit or help with the newsletter and improve your IT skills!  Find out more HERE>>>

Join Merton's Tree Warden Group to help with pruning fruit trees, litter picking and removing weeds.

Mum2Mum Market
2pm - 4pm, Ricards Lodge high School, Lake Road, Wimbledon SW19 7HB

Buy top quality secondhand baby and children's clothes, toys books and equipment at this award winning pop up market. Having a Spring clean? Book a stall and keep 100% of the proceeds. Enquiries:

Christchurch Community Garden

Fridays, 10am - 12pm, 58 Christchurch Road, Colliers Wood SW19 2NY 

Join local volunteers at the weekly workday to help with general maintenance and upkeep of the garden. Please contact Lesley via

Green Coffee
1st Tuesday of the month (usually), 9.30 - 11am, Wibbas Down Inn,

Phipps Bridge Community Garden
