Celebrating the Volunteer at Sustainable Merton's AGM
On 9th February, we were joined by over 40 of our friends and supporters to celebrate the great work of our volunteers and 10 years of Sustainable Merton!
Official business was quickly dispatched, leaving plenty of time for guests to hear about last year's successes and what we have planned for 2017, including a Community Champions update and welcome to Sandy - our new Project Manager.
Our audience also enjoyed inspiring stories from our volunteers and we were delighted to welcome Russell Smith, Director of Retrofit Works, to share exciting news of the new 'Improving the Housing of South London' domestic retrofit scheme.

Air Quality in Merton | Tom Walsh - CEO, Sustainable Merton
** Important Information **
"For the past two years Sustainable Merton has been working with partners at the London Sustainability Exchange and the Mayor’s office in London to measure the air quality of many sites across the borough. The results have been disturbing and many areas are exceeding the European guidelines for clean air.
It is important for us to be aware of this information and to carefully consider it when planning cycle/walking routes, and most importantly, the route to school, as young children are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of poor air quality." More...

£630 raised for Phipps Bridge Community Garden!
On 24th February, Sustainable Merton hosted our first quiz night and fundraiser of the year at The Guardian Centre, Colliers Wood - home of Merton Vision.
70 people joined us to make the night a success and we were delighted to welcome both old and new friends. Our ever popular quiz master Andy led the evening's entertainment and guests enjoyed a delicious home-cooked meal, prepared by Wendy (Merton Vision) and her team. Congratulations to the winning quizzers and thank you to everyone who took part! Special thanks also to Mark for running the bar all evening.
The fantastic amount raised will be used to support our flagship community garden at Phipps Bridge, enabling us to buy new tools, seeds and other essential items this year.
