Dear Friends of PSE,
The attached newsletter was written before the new lockdown orders due to the spread of Covid. On February 23, everything closed again in Phnom-Penh and gradually in other provinces as well.
This time, the spread rate of the virus is much higher than it has ever been in Cambodia. Beyond school closures, entire zones are under orders to remain at home. Some markets are closed. An immediate consequence of all these constraints is that families who already face great difficulty have a hard time getting enough to eat.
Many PSE employees are also therefore confined to home. Those who can, are teleworking. Others can no longer physically go visit children where they live as they have been doing for a year now. The Social Team and the teachers try to remain in contact with every child by calling their families every two or three days to make sure things are not getting too bad. The report is that the students have been trying to work hard to continue learning, from a distance, despite these difficult conditions.
We need your help more than ever and will keep you informed about the projects we have planned to support and let you know about upcoming fundraising events and actions.
With deep gratitude,
Beatrice Carrot
President
