Through the Gates of the Omer--
Every Day a Blessing!
Approaching the Vernal Equinox
Yes, I will be doing an in-the-flesh writing circle in Philadelphia during the burgeoning spring weeks. Yes, we will be using my magnum opusThrough the Gates--A Practice for Counting the Omer as text. And yes, if you want to write with me in this way--and help bring in the blessings of sephirot (divine attributes) while you're at it-- now is the time to register. If you need a flier, here it is.
But I want to talk to you now about another option for connecting "through the gates."
The counting of the Omer begins after sundown on April 4. For those of you who plan to be reading along with me through the 49 days, I am creating a private email group. When you join the group, on each morning of the Omer you'll receive an audio file of the day's poem, spoken by me, along with a few written words of blessing (how could I help it!). You will also be invited to post, if and as you are willing, responses and explorations of your own--writings, photos, songs, prayers, poems or simple greetings to the others who are journeying together through this common text and practice. Or you may simply receive the poems in blessed silence.
Suggested fee range:
$36, $54, or $72-- all multiples of 18, that special Hebrew number corresponding to the word for Life--Chai. You may pick the amount that feels right for you. I couldn't figure out how to get my website to offer a range of fees, so if you want to pay other than $54, just ask!
Questions? call me, 215-247-5545. Or respond to this email and we'll figure out how to connect.
this is the blue that sees you.
This clear gaze asks nothing,
wants nothing, misses nothing.
All, all is forgiven in this flower:
what you cannot accept,
what you outright reject
is taken up in these petals
and turned, held, fed and clothed,
PS: We are fast approaching the new moon of Nisan and the vernal equinox. It's a good time to commit!
Poet Susan Windle uses her craft to explore and share the wonders of everyday life, to strengthen community and to challenge the forces of injustice within and without. Her most recent book, Through the Gates--A Practice for Counting the Omer is a spiritual memoir and daily guide in letters and poems.
I offer my poems freely, with love. If they resonate, put them to good use—for yourself and for any who may need them. If you find value in my work, consider a gift in return. Any amount will support the art and grow the love!
